Rig 45, series 2.
I quite enjoyed series 1 but am surprised there is a second. The positive is that is stars the nice policeman from Hope Street. The negative is that it is a complete rinse and repeat of series 1. They seemed to gloss over this, unless my recording messed up at the start, but the perpetrator, who was seemingly rescued as a survivor at the end of series 1, was obviously found out and is banged up for 20 years. The case of the brother’s murder is suddenly reactivated and to investigate this they need to go back to the rig to obtain a hidden hard drive. To find the hiding place they have to take the perpetrator (of course they do and with only two police in attendance) who almost immediately goes missing. And a crew member is killed. So it’s pretty much the same plot I reckon. I’ll try one more episode. But all the crew are dislikeable as in series 1.

Rig 45 S2
I'm not very enthusiastic about this second series either, and was also surprised to find the series 1 perp had been convicted and jailed with no explanation as to how. Hidden hard drives are getting to be rather a hackneyed idea - they've cropped up in one or two things I've watched in recent months. Whereas S1 was an interesting mystery surrounding who was doing what and why, S2 - now we know the background - seems to have lost most of that. I suppose I'll continue with it.

Well I watched episode 2 at the weekend and it's just tedious I think. Another episode, another crew member dead, and there isn’t the depth of character that there was in series 1, and that’s not saying a lot. I think I’ll abandon ship, or rig 😂.

Rig 45
I still haven't been winched off the rig, but More4 have played the dastardly trick of re-scheduling yesterday's (Fri 8 Sep) episode 3 hours later, at 12.15 am, and making it so my freesat series record failed to pick that up. The only way for me to watch now is via the Channel 4 player with its onslaught of adverts.
And this isn't the only programme to suffer this fate lately. The Queens That Changed the World on C4, which has been airing early evening on Mondays, suddenly disappeared from the schedules, only to re-surface at 12.10 am on Tuesday 12 Sep. Plus of course that episode (Eleanor of Aquitaine) is already available on the wretched C4 player...

E4 did the same thing with Cruel Summer, a YA drama which is a seriously good guilty pleasure! If not seriously good, 😂😂

For Life.
Anyone watching this? GMan? I am lost! Why is the detective, many years in the future according to the subtitles, in prison for life? Who was that chap who slashed at her in the visitors’ room in episode 1 with a kukri and then blamed her? I can only vaguely remember that she did a did a deal with her boss in episode 1 to keep the team going by blackmailing him because he knew or should have had suspicions about the murderer. How many years has she actually been in prison (she’s certainly aged in there!)? I’ve looked everywhere but haven’t found a series recap online.

Thanks GMan. I must read them properly but I noticed that this was inspired by the concept of How I Met Your Mother!!!!! And House!!! Well I must say neither show springs to mind but whatever. I also saw each episode is filmed as in a different genre… Well I didn’t notice that either. I mean it wasn’t exactly as bravura as the genre changes in Giri/Haji was it? Now that was genre busting!!! I’m glad it’s not just me who’s lost though.

Nordic Murders (with the bison park - remember?)
There are 3 new episodes of this which were put up on the C4 player yesterday, not yet broadcast on More4 and maybe never will be. Haven't watched any of them yet.

Oh fantastic stuff! Hopefully there will be mega bison involvement. I love this show. Well spotted, GMan.

The Sunday Times mentioned these new episodes today. It calls the show gloriously over the top, knotty, slow burn and overripe! It mentions excellent female leads but nothing about the bison which are surely a USP for the show.

GMan, can you remember who the chap, Devloid or whatever his name is, was to Victoria in episode 1. Was he a corrupt politician and she had the dirt on him which allowed her unit to continue? This is the chap who fitted her up over the knife attack in the visitors' room.
What I dont understand is why it is all taking so long. She has been banged up for over 10 years and is only just getting to the point of bringing him down and having her conviction quashed. You would think her crack team of detectives could have done something a bit quicker. Well they would in a Uk or Us show! 😂

I couldn't remember marion, because that opening scene in the jail is meaningless unless you recognise the same man when you see him "15 years earlier", and I didn't! However, some brief descriptions of episode 1 reveal Jan Devold was her superior offcer and the head of her department.

For Life.
I gave up on it a couple of episodes ago. A lot of each episode was going right over my head.
After it finishes, the More4 time slot on Friday seems to be running a repeat of Astrid.
Nordic Murders.
Finally watched the first of the 3 new episodes. No bison yet. Ellen Norgaard manages to land herself in an awkward situation professionally. Karin Lossow solves the crime by snooping around and quizzing people, often with a child in tow due to childminding responsibilities.
