It was one of the better offerings on TV over Christmas.
I did laugh when she looked at her watch and said 'Come on, if we leave now we should just catch the tide'. That would more likely have been 'Can someone Google to tide times'. She's well over an hour away from the police station.
Lindisfarne is beautiful and it's such a shame they always film Vera in the winter. It always looks freezing.

"Lindisfarne is beautiful and it's such a shame they always film Vera in the winter. It always looks freezing."
We visited at the end of the April after the Beast from the East struck. The castle was being renovated and they told us that the snow had been so deep on the island that the workmen couldn't get off for a long time so people living there put them up in their spare rooms. It is very beautiful and atmospheric but I'm not sure I would want to live somewhere you couldn't always get away from when you wanted or needed to. I guess you get used to it though.

Saw trailers for the new series last night. Three, two hour episodes beginning on 7th January. Joe is back!

And Billy. Billy was pitch perfect for a rookie, gullible young team member.

Yes, I thought Billy was well played.

I loved the scene where Vera asked Billy if he'd checked the files for summat. "Not yet, no." "Why not?!" "Cos I don't know how." The big grin on Mark's face as he offers to show him.

There's a lot in the media about it being Kenny's last episode. But I don't remember him leaving. Did I miss the end?

I think he might leave in the early episodes of the next series, from something I read somewhere…. I didn’t know he is the new husband of Ashley Jensen! She, poor woman, lost her husband to suicide about 6/7 years ago and but is now with this chap. I remember the very quiet wedding being referenced in the press but didn’t connect it with Kenny.

That was a good one... (It was based on an actual Vera book, not just a screenplay)
The rookie on work experience from the front desk looked like a young Steve Coogan. And until he appeared we though Vera's boss, as heard on the phone, was being played by Kevin Whately!
I know there were serious reasons for the message over the credits at the end.. "if you've been aftected by any of the issues..." - but if they included encountering a mad axeman in the woods or being beaten up and left to face the rising tide on a causeway then you're a particularly unlucky individual.

It could've been there for people who have gone through a cot death.
