Two shakes and a very soggy bottom. Missing Mary, Sue and Mel - but still great Bakers, the usual suspects maybe...but the first showstoppers of this series, were amazing. Can't say I'll get use too the 'new ones'....but I'll keep watching.

Wasn't really aware that there was music in earlier Bake Offs, but the ad breaks seemed to have an effect on it and I found it loud and intrusive.
Why did they have a break before judging the first task? That didn't make sense to me. I'd assumed they'd compete a task and then go to a break.
And as for the ads - I'll have to record and watch later otherwise I'll be throwing something at the screen every time the Dr Oetker ad airs. Really irritating. nd being 75 minutes, it eats into the next programme I want to watch.
But. although I too thought Pru was very much like a private school headmistress and I thought she lacked any warmth, I was impressed by the standard of baking. Seemed higher than in previous series.

I enjoyed it and to be honest it must have been nerve wracking for the new presenters with so much to live up and I thought they all did well. The ads were dreadful, not because they had ad breaks but because the talking cake thing from Dr Oetker was so annoying, but nice to be able to get a drink without missing something, so overall not a problem. If only I could train the dog to want things in ad breaks and not at the cliff-hangers!!!!!!!!!

I recorded it and then watched it without the ad breaks.

I'm not surprised. The test will be how many are still watching at the end of the series.

I wasn't going to watch this, oh no........but having had a year to get over being cross about the move I did watch and am so glad I changed my mind. All the old ingredients are still there, the contestants seem to be the nice bunch of people they always have been in past series and, I have to say, as the programme went on I found I wasn't missing Mary, Mel and Sue at all. Strangely, the one person I found stilted and a bit ill at ease was Sandi Toksvig. And I really warmed to Noel Fielding who I have only previously seen on panel games and chat shows and *not* warmed to. He seems to have a nice, friendly way with the contestants. Now I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

I watched it this afternoon and enjoyed it. I liked Sandi and Noel too, he seems rather a kind chap. It did seem a bit rushed through some of the judging but maybe that was the same as earlier first episodes where there are so many contestants.

Thoroughly enjoyed episode 1 - welcome back Bake Off! The real stars are the gifted bakers, presenters and judges can clearly come and go. Some of the show stoppers last night were truly eye watering. SUCH a high standard already. Welcome back Bake Off - complete with rain pouring down outside the tent. But how will Prue cope with Mary's favourite squirrel......

I laughed all the way through An extra slice. The mariachi band was fun. What makes me think Richard what's his name actually didn't like Pru? I thought his swipes at her had an undercurrent of malice, dressed up as comedy.

He's often like that with other comics. I'm sick of the sight of him.
