He does tend to be waspish, doesn't he? He often follows it with "just kidding"...but it does get a bit wearing. Fine on Pointless with Zander who he has known for years, but not so good with others on TV. Meanwhile, the Telegraph reviewed likened the pairing of Sandi and Noel to "....Margaret Rutherford and Marc Bolan deciding to do a cookery show together...."

I've seen Richard Osman do that on a few shows, most notably HIGNFY. He'll say something a bit rude and pass it off as 'Im only joking', but a few times I've thought 'I don't think he is.' My dad is sick of seeing him popping up on everything. They watch The Chase rather than Pointless. I like both but I can join in more with The Chase as they have lots more questions and Pointless could be 30mins if they cut all the nonsense with the contestants. I watched an episode on Challenge once and by the time they'd got through the 8 people it went to an ad break! "I'm a student." "I'm retired" "Im a teacher." That's it!
...back to Bake off. I missed it! I saw an advert on Monday and it said 'Coming soon', it didn't say ' starts tomorrow.', which would have been more helpful. It is on 47/7 at midnight, so I might watch it then...or probably record it and fast fwd through the breaks!

I really don't like Richard Osman who I think comes across as smug and self-satisfied and, like profbooboo's dad, I am tired of seeing him in anything and everything. I cannot understand what is so "wonderful" about him.

Bidie, I've just noticed your avatar....so funny and so true; just look at my own! Sadly my beloved cat has just died so I'm feeling very bereft and lonely without him at the moment.
(Sorry for going off topic....)

Ahh, sorry to hear about your cat, Vicky. I'm sure they had a lovely, happy, well cared for life while they were here and that's thanks to you. I hope you take comfort in that. 🐱

Well I never thought I'd say it, but I'm warming to Noel! Flo reminds me of Vera Duckworth! The tasks seem much harder this year. Can't take to Sylvia for some reason,( but then I couldn't stand Candice) and was pleased Chris went. My favourites at the moment are Sophie, James and Yan.

Noel does seem quite nice. He looks like Professor Snape at Hogwarts to me!

I am finding Paul Hollywood a bit smug. As if he is the top banana now Mary has gone. But not to the point of not wanting to watch.

Sandi seemed more relaxed this week, Paul Hollywood seems more friendly and jovial than previously (which may prove what I have always thought about this type of programme - the professionals play the "part" the director tells them to) and I really like Pru Leith and Noel Fielding. I am also pleased that the silly inuendos have been abolished, by and large. Used sparingly they can be funny but they had become too frequent with Sue and Mel. All in all, Bake Off has survived the move I think.
Edit to say thank you to all who have sympathised over the loss of my cat.
