Thanks for that! I wondered why there was no HD RB this time and it is on 114. Have made a note of all these, but realise now I have just recycled the two freebie Rio schedules that were in my papers so I hope the RT is easy to follow or the papers do a reprint.

The only problem is red button coverage does not migrate to catch-up, AFAIA, so if stuff is happening at 4 am, all well and good but lots won't be able to see it next day.
I don't have any means of recording anything anymore, so if it doesn't get to iPlayer, that's that.

But from past experience from stuff happening in other timezones, they do repeat quite a lot the next day on the RB. There's not much happening in our daytime so they fill it with events from our night before.

I notice that there is only one red button this time , I'm sure at the last olympics there were about four. So I have set my recorder for BBC 1 , 2 and 4 as well as the red button. Some of these are 'live' others are highlights. Goodness knows when I'll get the chance to watch what I want to see!

The red button is on channels 600-608 and 114 in HD, so far more than one if you can receive them all. I am sure there will be a massive highlights show on one of the main channels. In fact I have just checked the EPG and BBC1 is total Olympics next Sat and Sun, BBC4 ditto for extended hours, and some dedicated shows on the News channel. I didn't spot anything on BBC2. I reckon that makes about 10 channels and I bet it is saturation coverage for the duration on all of them, with a non sports respite on BBC2. PS Ride London is about to go past the end of my road soon. However, I see Chris Froome is racing in Rio in Saturday. Do they not need to acclimatise? Or get over a flight and settle in? I need longer than that if I were just packing and going on holiday.

There are definitely programmes on BBC2. I have them set to record on my TiVo Box. I guess you must have Sky as the red button on Virgin is not any of the channel numbers you mentioned. There only seems to be one red button channel on Virgin. Strange? Isn't the red button provided by the BBC?

Miranda, thanks, just checked my EPG for next week and those channels don't exist, I wonder if they will 'appear ' next week once the games start. Anyone else got a TIVO box so they can check if theirs is the same at the moment? I might try switching it off and then on again to see if they load up!

I expect they will come up later. You don't usually need to manually update a TIVO box, do you?

Ermmmm.... are you stuck in a time loop? Seems like it! I went to make a cup of tea before I pressed post, not realising that you had answered!

No ,it usually updates itself, but electronic equipment in this house seems to have a mind of its own. this conversation is beginning to get like the Two Ronnies sketch - answering the question after the one that has just been asked, or something like that!
