May I just clarify that the RB channels I mentioned in my post upthread are on a standard Freeview TV with an HD Humax recorder.
I do not have TiVo, Sky, Virgin, Internet TV or anything else you can get.
Sorry not to have made that clear upfront.

PS Ride London is about to go past the end of my road soon. However, I see Chris Froome is racing in Rio in Saturday. Do they not need to acclimatise? Or get over a flight and settle in? I need longer than that if I were just packing and going on holiday.   And after the commentators saying for 49 kms that he was bound to win and there was no way the mass could catch up, what happened?  I watch it for the views of Surrey (where I grew up), especially the aerial ones. I get really annoyed when the cameras cut away just as there is a bit I particularly want to see. |

It's not a long flight and it is in, kind of, the right direction. In terms of the actual racing they are used to changes of altitude, and temperature, in short order so there is nothing particular about Rio that should give them any problems. Similar for swimmers (in the open), but they do have other nasties to contend with, by all accounts. The Brownlee boys may well end up being brown...you know where I'm going, but having gastro problems on a 10K run is not funny. Which part of London/Surrey are you in Marion? I'll let you know roughly what time I went by the end of your road (a lot earlier than Chris Froome and co. because I started at 6:42am!) |

Just to update my previous posts on the numerous RB channels I can see on my big TV with the HD recorder (600-608). I have just retuned my small Freeview TV which does not have a recorder of any type attached, and I can only see RB channels on 600 and 601. So perhaps like some other Freeview channels you need an HD recorder to see them(I think we had this discussion about CBS Drama or some such).
I am in Putney, cali4ster. Frome and co went by at about 18.10, but I did hear some cheering around lunchtime. Was that for you?

I would recommend the website in that case. You can catch up on a lot of the lesser-known sports that you won't get to see on the TV.
