what adverts from the past do you remember fondly, or were so excuriating that you still wince at the thought of them? Ads remembered fondly ..... Hamlet especially the one where the robot has his head fixed on back to front; Guinness where white horses come out of the sea; Honda narrated by Garrison Keiler; all Famous Grouse especially the one where he's invisibly kissed and the Coca Cola trucks .... "holidays are coming, holidays are coming". Excrutiating .... all those where shouting is involved. Thank goodness for the mute button when watching live and the fast forward button when recording.

Sadly, it's like everything ..... Christmas starts in September; Easter Eggs appear amidst Valentine Day "gifts" the day after Christmas; holidays are advertised while barbecue equipment appears in "seasonal" aisles in January; after the months leading up to Christmas being full of food adverts ..... diet and exercise dvds appear soon after Boxing Day.
Life flies by fast enough as it is.
And now that the "marketing people" have cottoned on to today's ageing demographics, we're bombarded by adverts for funeral arrangements, life insurance, equity release, etc. All tagged with the emotional blackmail of "for the sake of your family".

I'm pig sick of the 'save for your funeral' ads on tv. They were mainly on during the day but I noticed a couple appear of an evening and the equity release are all the time. That annoying song #good advice is key#

I had a mocha today.
Me: “Wow, that’s frothy.” Dad (in a gravelly voice, without missing a beat): “That’s frothy, man.”
Virtual bouquets to anyone who can identify the product. Also, how many other catchphrases could last almost 50 years beyond the commercials?

Also, how many other catchphrases could last almost 50 years beyond the commercials? I think it was Cresta. It was certainly a soft drink that came in different fruit flavours, and it was frothy. It was very unusual, I don't recall anything like it before or since. Wasn't it a polar bear in shades who said the catchphrase?

Yep, Cresta:
I wonder what happened to it?

"You've come a long way baby" is still a popular catchphrase here in the US but I doubt many millennials know it started with Virginia Slims cigarette ads in the 60s. Cigarette ads were banned in 1971.

All time favourites are still the Guiness ads with Rutger Hauer.
