The red looks too bright, to me, almost luminescent.

Enjoyed tonight's episode. Love the actress playing Becky Sharp, with a twinkle in her eye. Martin Clunes never disappoints.
A bit jarring when the servant leaving Amelias former home spoke in modern terms. "Search me" and "Went bust" would have sounded wrong even if the drama had been set in the middle of the last century!

I am enjoying it too. It is very spirited, just like Becky.
The only one I am less than keen on is Dobbin who seems too "slight" for the role.

Last night's episode was good for me after a very stressful 3 days, light, cheerful, full of colour and just a little drama. Enjoying Francis de la Tour and of course Olivia Cook, all just what I needed !

All the acting is good but I thought Frances de la Tour completely stole this last episode.

I’m finding Becky a less likeable character than at the beginning, she was belittling her new husband badly last night and showing how very manipulative she is.

I think that is how we're meant to feel. I've never read Vanity Fair and don't know the ins and outs of the story but isn't Becky Sharpe regarded as one of the most unlikeable heroines in literature because of her manipulative nature? She's never made any secret of wanting to marry for money: unfortunately, she made a bad miscalculation in that direction when she married Rawdon Crawley!

Yes it feels as though her true character is slowly being revealed and she’s not very nice. The scene where she was making fun of the companion was very cruel. I’ve never read it either but I suppose she’ll somehow have to get rid of Rawdon. I think she’d have accepted Sir Pitt like a shot if she hadn’t already been married.

I have just read in the RT that Dobbin is played by a Johnnie Flynn, brother of Jerome!

I'm finally starting to like this much more, although I still don't think it's as good as it could have been. Once again the raising of Sam's race felt rather clumsily done.
Incidentally, I had a very strange VF-related dream last night: Dobbin and George (both in full uniform) found a time-bomb in a modeern department store. Naturally Dobbin sent George to get Amelia out; meanwhile he called the caretake (who was Mr Harman from Are You Being Served?!) to call the emergency services whilst he started to organise the general evacuation of the store!

Enjoyed last night's offering: some new characters who managed to make an impact even though they only had fleeting appearances.
I suppose we're coming up now, to the battle scenes which were talked about in the making of this series, even though they're not described in the book. Apparently the producers thought it would add to the story.
