I think Molly Button should be made a speaking part. She could be a marvellous character!!!!

Who is Polly? I'm guessing one of Nic's children but I couldn't initially decide whether Polly was a child or a dog!

Nic and Will have a 4 year old - Poppy. There isn't a Polly, but there is a dog called Holly.

Ah! OK, thanks. How did I miss them having a child? Nic has children from her abusive former husband but I didn't realise they had a child together.

I'm not sure how much more of Will lashing out at people and blaming them I can put up with. It may be a realistic depiction of how grief affects some people, but it doesn't make great radio, to be honest. Drop 'Contemporary drama in a rural setting' and bring back 'An everyday story of country folk'! *Lynda Snell-type sniff*

Will having a go at Joe was a particular low. Clarrie was great in that scene but I agree it should calm down now. I imagine we'll get past the funeral and then the focus will shift to other characters. Brian's hair shirt routine is pretty annoying too – what that all seems to be about is putting him in thrall to Justin, whose moustache is twirling as we speak.

I am not a fan of Will but I do think he is generally treated rather poorly by his family (not now of course) who always take the side of golden child Ed. Don't look forward too much to what lies ahead, namely Moody and Broody and their behbeh with Lexi. That is excruciating IMHO. Ian was practically assessing any woman with a functioning uterus as his gestational carrier (which is a term, apparently) which I found very offputting. Then we have the saga of Pip and her pregnancy.
I could barely listen to that dinner party with the discussion over the starter of the quality of Adam's sperm! And as for Jennifer feeding up Lexi, would anyone not just say I know what to do, I already had two successful pregnancies! And then poor old Roy is told sex is not an option!

Couldn't agree more about Moody and Broody (I love it! So apt!). The writing veers between very sensitive – Jack's Alzheimer's and the Grundys' eviction from Grange Farm were standout themes for me – and utterly crass, as with Pip and Toby's pregnancy story and Lexi's surrogacy as you say. I can't be the only one who thought that Pip would have been a better candidate for the chop than Nic.
Becky Wright who played Nic was on the Today programme the other day, talking about sepsis. She sounds lovely in real life, just as she did as Nic. Sorry she's gone.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother listening. Shula, the most sanctimonious woman in Borsetshire, and Alistair, the most boring man, are separating. Yawn. They deserve each other and I do hope this blows over quickly. Just as well The Bull is there, eh? Adam took refuge there not long ago during a marital tiff.

Now I want to slap Jill. Interfering cow! And I really wish people talking about Nic didn't say 'When Nic ...' [pregnant pause]. Is there something wrong with saying she has died?

Anybody catch Room 101 last week when Stephen Mangan made The Archers one of his choices! Naturally Frank Skinner didn't let it in - such a BBC sacred cow! My OH is an avid follower, but for years now I've though an Emmerdale-style air crash to wipe out most of the (totally irritating) cast would be welcome. However, when I get my turn as Radio 4 Controller it'll be top of my hitlist (then i'll just go on The Media Show and say the fanatical audience is simply over-reacting to the inevitable ).

Who is more annoying – sanctimonious Shula who is being completely unreasonable, or pushy Jill who should butt out?
