Oh thank you. They were just a standard supermarket bunch but they had surprisingly large heads. I'm hopeless at photos and avatars so was just thankful I could load this one. Hopefully I'll never have to change it, lol. I like yours too. Quite a few are nice to look at I think.

Mine was taken out of my bedroom window with my then new digital camera. Yes, many are nice though rather a lot of cats!

Oooh! Is that the first time Ruaridh has found his voice? He does sound rather like the odious Freddie, both in vocal nuance and in temperament, but I'll let that pass for the moment.

I gather we have a NuRhuari and a NuBen so maybe we will hear them more often now! On Friday I am staying with someone who objects to The Archers and I am sure there is a LoLo disaster about to happen, and anything big is usually on a Friday so I shall miss it! Must remember to listen on the app when I get home.

Well, that was a damp squib. I was rather hoping either Ben or Ruairi, preferably both, would cop it, though it would have been a throwback to John Archer having a tractor fall on him. I could quite work out what the problem was at Lower Loxley – overenthusiastic actors and organisers who didn't check properly what was going to be done? I thought they'd drafted in locals like Bert to take part. I'd have thought they would have more sense. But no doubt it will be analysed in full so we'll find out.

So Brian and Jennifer have actually left Home Farm. I'm surprised, I was quite expecting the mystery buyer to be Peggy whose way of dealing with any problem is to throw money at it, and she had already offered to help out but been rebuffed by Brian. I really can't stand listening to Jenny whining on about not having enough space for 'bare essentials' – she really does need to get a grip. But she always was a dreadful snob, much worse than Linda whose heart is in the right place even if she does overdo the panto melodrama.
I wonder what will happen with the new owners – it looks as if they are 'not our sort of people' who won't fit in to the village hierarchy. Not that that will bother them, I hope!

I felt sure the completion would fail and Brian and Jennifer would get to keep the deposit! Quite why the owners trashed the place then just left it after their party baffles me. Quite why Adam and Ruairi then cleared up the mess is also beyond me!
I hope to goodness this Canterbury Tales saga has now finished!

Indeed. There is a full performance of the Canterbury Tales on the iplayer; apparently the panto actually got written this time and is there for our delectation. I have not felt called upon to listen! Sometimes I do wonder why I bother to listen, but I keep coming back ...

I truly get more than a little fed up with Linda's obsession with her annual am-dram stuff - it's all she seems to talk about from October onwards! This Canterbury Tales malarkey was her last one, wasn't it? (oh, please let it be so...)
PS - I never guessed what I thought was 'Rory' was actually spelt 'Ruairi' - learn summat new every day!

As everyone pronounces it differently he'll be getting an identity complex ...
The panto is ludicrous, both that Linda would get away with her flouncing around and that a busy farming community would entertain the idea for more than five minutes. I do like Linda though, she has a kind streak that softens her stage snobbery, while Jennifer is just awful. She and Brian represent the squirearchry at its worst.

I cannot abide Linda. I simply do not understand why people let her rule their lives. Surely they would simply tell her where to go IRL. I know I would!!
Do you remember when they first cast Ruairi, I think he was about five. They made a big fuss about finding a child from Ireland with exactly the right accent to play him. But the worst ever child actor has to Henwee. Eight!!! He sounds about four to me.

Judy Bennett (Shula) voices children sometimes. I wonder if it's her? Henwee's dialogue is dreadful, as I also think Ruairi and Josh's teenage banter which makes them sound about 35.
I've met Carol Boyd (Linda) in real life and she is delightful, with a lovely soft speaking voice. That probably colours my opinion. I do think Linda is kind though, and understands human nature – Roy's predicament for example – in a way that self-centred Jennifer just doesn't. But a little of Linda's panto shenanigans does go a long way ... However, that should be it for another 10 months or so!

Lynda has her bad parts, but I do like her on the whole. My sister used to live in a village in a farming area and they had an annual panto run by someone who was, as I understand it, not wholly unlike Lynda, so I don't think it's necessarily unrealistic. I remember once we were driving to or from somewhere on holiday and stopped off to take a break and have a look around a nearby church. We could hear a strangely familiar voice emanating from inside, and upon entering, lo and behold there was Carol Boyd rehearsing for a poetry recital! IIRC she was doing it as part of a charity fundraiser.
I can't help liking Brian because he has a wonderful line in deadpan snarking and is played so beautifully by Charles Collingwood!

So what do we think will happen at Susan's dinner party for Jennifer and Brian? The worst social climber in Borsetshire and the worst snob in Ambridge in the same room.
I did have some sympathy for Will showing Alan the door. Well-meaning advice is not always appropriate or welcome. Though I'm sure we are meant to side with Mia and Alan and Will will have to climb down.

Well I thought Will was pretty ungracious. I did have an eye on something else so may have missed some bits, but Alan was only suggesting a charitable donation IIRC. I think Will could have turned down the idea with a bit more grace. When it came to Mia, I was at first amazed at the idea of singalong Sound of Music as a memorial treat. But that apart, Mia had got her father's permission to go so I didn't like the way Will said she should spend the day at home with him. I think Will and Mia have rather an unhealthy relationship, although I don't mean pervy. Also, where has Jake gone? Will was falling over himself to keep Jake, buying him gifts and taking him out, ignoring both girls. Is he with Andrew now?
