BBC One have signed a deal with Acorn Media International to acquire both seasons of Acorn TV’s original UK drama series London Kills, from Suspects creator Paul Marquess, for their daytime schedule.
London Kills sees London serve as the backdrop for a series of murders – all investigated by an elite murder squad that is being led by Detective Inspector David Bradford. As the detectives solve each case, the one mystery David can’t solve is the one most personal to him. His wife has gone missing – is she alive or dead?
The drama series stars Hugo Speer (The Musketeers, Father Brown), Sharon Small (Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Trust Me), Bailey Patrick (Casualty, EastEnders) and Tori Allen-Martin.
London Kills joins a slate of high-end dramas on BBC One’s daytime schedule that also includes Father Brown, Shakespeare & Hathaway – Private Investigator and the upcoming The Mallorca Files.
“London Kills is a crisp and complex police drama with compelling characters portrayed by a top-notch cast”, said the BBC’s Head of Programme Acquisition Sue Deeks, who brokered the deal with Acorn Media International. “Viewers are in for a treat with this series and we’re really looking forward to showing it on the BBC.”

Not another serial killer of young women. Odd choice for a daytime drama.

I see nothing that says a serial killer of young women, just a series of murders.

I was wondering which UK channel would be picking this up.
Yes, each episode is a separate case, though there is a continuing thread about the Hugo Speer character's wife. The victims in series 1 at least are mostly male.
It's very similar to Channel 5's Suspects in that it's made in "documentary style", following the police investigation and with viewers only finding things out when they do.
Series 1 & 2 (5 episodes each) were filmed at the same time; S1 has already been released in the States and S2 might possibly be in the summer. Maybe the Beeb will wait till after that and show both series together.

I misread the connection between the murders and the detectives wife.

This might be one to watch on catch up. The only missing element is the delightful Damien Molony!

Was episode 1 all set in one day? I thought I heard someone say that at one point and it seemed extremely unlikely. They certainly packed a lot in.

I assumed it just meant kills (noun) within the London area, but if it means London kills (verb), I've no idea!
I assumed it was on the one day because the trainee detective wore the same shirt throughout, but that seemed an unrealistic timeframe for all those results.

Yeah, there's no way that all happened in one day. They wouldn't get any forensic results that quickly to start with.

It reminds me of Suspects, without the swearing!

It's creator (Paul Marquess) was also one of the creators of Suspects.
