This is 'bedding in' nicely Wasn't too keen on Callum's Tristan at first, but I'm warming to him. I liked the way he supported James ('Jim' to Tris) last night. This Tristan has a good heart. The standout character, so far, is Sam West's Siegfried. He has integrity. I agree... I take back what I said about Tristan last week

Yes, I'm warming to Tristan too. If I remember rightly, he was a bit stand-offish to begin with in the original series too.

Ohh, I might try and watch those. BBC4 did show the first two episodes during lockdown and I was expecting it to be a double bill-weekly thing, but they didn't show anymore, I was quite disappointed. Agree about Drama. They're showing Silent Witness aswell which I've only seen a few of, but like the Tom Ward years! ITV3 is good for fixes of Agatha Christie (not my thing) but they also have Lewis and are repeating Granchester (which are). And Talking Pictures are showing a lot more tv shows. I've just finished watching Lyttons Diary followed by Danger UXB, which was brilliant. Those have been replaced with Rumpole and Callan, the first episode was on last night...well 4am this morning! These channels are doing better than the main ones!

I love all the main cast, but Sam West is so good, I really felt for him when he lost the job he really wanted but did it for the right reasons. And Tristam is showing a less selfish side. Yesterday afternoon it just popped into my head "Oh All Creatures Great And Small is on tonight." And I was quite pleased. I know, for me, that's a sign U really enjoy a show, when I really look forward to the next episode.

It is shaping up well, and I'm enjoying it.
That scene at the very end - would they really have been drinking beer (I assume it was beer) straight from bottles? In the distant past when I was a lad it was never done, at least in the circles I was brought up in - beer was always poured into a glass first (or into a mug, beaker etc. if - say - outdoors on a picnic). This brandishing of bottles and swigging from them is I think a more modern practice (and, still in my mind, an uncouth one).

I think it was just because Seigfried had taken it away from the louche Tristram. He even put his feet on the table after telling Tris to remove his.
I was hoping to see the owner of the horse make a formal apology to James. I understood how upset he was to lose such a glorious animal, but James did the only humane thing. The condition should have been spotted earlier by the stable lads or trainer.
Always nice to see Nigel Havers in any drama!

It is.... but I didn't recognise him, I've just had to google to see who he was playing

I got the impression he was more upset about losing such a valuable animal.

This is a very enjoyable 'Sunday' evening show. Excellent. So far everyone is taking a good part.

I agree about your Sunday comment Bev. I wonder what the programme schedulers were thinking when they decided on a Tuesday.

I watch it on the Tuesday, I didn't realise they showed it again on the Sunday until I saw it yesterday. There's quite a bit on tomorrow so it's nice to know that I won't miss it and I can catch up on Sunday...although there's no way I'm waiting! I'm really looking forward to this tomorrow. It reminds me of Grantchester. I used to look forward to that and it's a period show.

I too am really enjoying this and agree about the Sunday appeal. I could watch this after Hetty Wainthropp!! I think they have managed to capture warmth and immense charm. I even prefer Sam West’s version of Siegfried but think Peter Davidson just about edges it as Tristan. But I don’t sit and compare it whilst watching, it certainly stands on its own two feet.
