Good to see this back and as enjoyable as ever. Love the inclusion of Diana Rigg channeling her inner Dowager Countess of Grantham

I didn't watch the first series, and am hoping that won't matter too much, as I have recorded this to watch at some point.

I can't get over how disgusting it looks below stairs! Very insalubrious. Look at the state of that chef, yuk. I can't believe anyone working in a Royal household would be allowed to dress like that. But wasn't chef FRancatelli a real person who did come back after leaving? I may have misread some publicity perhaps, lol. I enjoyed it too. I am mainly hoping for Peel to be defeated and the triumphant return of Lord M. I haven't checked the history books to see if that happens but I remain hopeful. Francatelli was a real person but online articles don't seem to agree on whether he ever returned after leaving, or how long he was there - varies between 1 & 4 years - or whether at this stage he had any involvement with the Reform Club (where he was said to have gone). Skerrett was also a real person and was Queen Victoria's dresser for 25 years - but she was born in 1793, so at the point this drama has reached would be approaching 50 years old. Lord M is in the cast list for next Sunday...

Cheering out loud here! Have just seen Lord M in the trailer for Sunday. Yeah, I noticed him in the trailer too. I know they have to stick to history, but I much preferred him and Victoria.

Lord M looked a bit pale and poorly, needing treatment with leeches (which I'm surprised to find still have their uses today).
Hilarity in the subtitles this week - apparently diners at the palace, with their dainty glasses, had been eating a moose.

Yes the moose! That was a bit of light relief. A poorly Lord M is better than no Lord M at all though. Anyone else cheer?

There was an article in the Times yesterday by Daisy Goodwin, confessing she couldn't bring herself to kill off Lord M yet
How far has the story got? He died in 1848, but she doesn't have to stick to that, it wouldn't be the only bit of history-tweaking would it?

She is pregnant with Edward VII who was born in 1841, so Lord M has some time left!

I thought Lord M had died in Sunday's episode. I have to confess I was scanning through the internet on my phone for part of it (it's not gripping me as much as the first series) but Lord M looking at the bird Victoria had brought him and the bird falling silent, I thought that was to indicate that Lord M had died and then Victoria putting the cross in the ground, I though was an indication as well. So is he still alive? ...or did the bird die!?

The cross in the ground was on the dog's grave (Dash?) they didn't make that clear did they, shame on them
I think Lord M might still be around for a while! If they hadn't made it subscription-only I'd be able to give you the link to the writer's article...
I'm remaining hopeful

Thanks. I know the dog died but thought that Victoria standing at the grave was also an indication that Lord M had also passed. And the bird tweeting and then suddenly stopping seemed like it was telling us he'd died...but as he didn't die in real life until a few years later it's just my imagination working over drive!😉
