anyone watch this? A celebrity is in an all covering costume and sings before a panel, who have to guess who they are. Bizarre concept, but you get drawn in and start shouting names at the telly. Apparently it’s a great hit in other parts of the world

I didn't see it but is there a 'celebrity benchmark'? 90% of so called celebrities today I wouldn't recognise mask or not.

There’s only one celeb who has been “revealed” so far. You would know them if you watch the soaps. I think the rest will be people who do celeb shows anyway, and have a bit or a lot of a singing voice.

Yes, I watched it last night. I rather enjoyed it. As you say, a rather odd concept, but I thought the costumes were beautiful.

I agree, the costumes were beautiful. I watched this rather late into the show, but enjoyed it. loved the hedgehog .

I should like this ,but found it tedious and actually gave up after first singer.
So with that and The Voice back,barren night for this viewer on ITV.

Yes, those costume must be very hot and I guess it would take very careful placing of the microphone to get the best sound out of the singer.

I think they may be miming to a prerecorded track. The whole show is recorded. I don’t think you could ever get a good sound with those masks on

I watched this, not expecting to like it: it was such fun that I made sure I caught the 2nd episode on iPlayer. It's really hard to guess who they are, and the costumes are beautiful. I think I've guessed a couple of the celebs, but will have to wait & see -- I really thought the politician was going to be Ed Balls!!

In the US version the season 1 winner was Gladys Knight and the runner up was Donny Osmond.
Other masked singer contestants in season 1 were rapper T-Pain, Joey Fatone (from NSYNC) and Layota Jackson.
Season 2 professional singers included Chris Daughtry, Seal and Patti LaBelle
So they definitely had music professionals mixed in with actors, sports stars, an other non music industry celebrities.

So far all we have had is an actor in a soap and a former politician. I don’t think I’ll bother with any more episodes
