I enjoyed it too. It had an old-fashioned feel to it, a sense of good old-fashioned coppering. And great scenery!

I thought the ending was a little contrived, with Karen able to arrest the killer in front of the daughter. But I suspect my irritation was mostly triggered because by then I so disliked the daughter 🤣
Overall, I liked this a lot and would watch more. I enjoyed her relationship with her sidekick.

The main contrivance for me was locating a witness after 25 years with total recall of what he saw. But it didn’t spoil it for me.

I think in the book the daughter is not in an isolated farmhouse and therefore everyone can get to the scene much quicker.
They probably did that for filming reasons because they would be able to block off the farm drive and filming loads of armed police wouldn't be such an issue.
I don't think the witness had much to remember really. The car make and that she got into the car. The police still had a lot of work figuring out who it belonged to.

Especially as he was a taxi driver and must have seen so many different people and cars over the years although I suppose what happened on the night of a high profile local murder probably would stick in your mind.

He did report it at the time and gave a statement.
I gave a statement about an attack I witnessed probably 15 years ago and I'd pretty much say the same thing now.
I don't know how many BMW 325is there were in St Andrews then but it was a car that stood out and if you like cars and that's what you saw, you'd remember it.
He didn't have a complicated scenario to remember. He was parked up watching. She walked past, a car pulled up, she wasn't happy at first, then got in. He didn't see who was in the car or hear anything that was said. It's relatively straightforward really.
