The third series of Staged is to air on television this summer.
Released in November 2022 on streaming service BritBox, the sitcom's six newest episodes will be broadcast on BBC One "soon". However, the episodes will be longer than in previous years.
The first two series of the comedy aired as 15-minute episodes on television, with approximately 50% extra each - totalling circa 22 minutes per programme - in their BritBox variants; for Series 3, the full-length 22-minute episodes will be the ones aired by the BBC too.
Stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen are once again joined by real-life partners Georgia Tennant and Anna Lundberg, plus writer/director Simon Evans, in the series.
The plot for Series 3 is described as follows: "Things have returned to normal for David and Michael. They have moved on from lockdown and returned to their everyday working life, while Simon's career remains stagnant. His phone does ring, but only to ask if he can get David and Michael back together; and they've made it clear they want nothing more to do with him. But Christmas is approaching, and Simon hopes the warmth of the season might soften them to the idea of a radio version of a Christmas classic... but that's as far as Simon's plan has got!"

Binged watched it in one sitting. I think it's so clever and funny. The Telegraph reviewer wasn't keen which made me think I probably would be as I usually disagree with their assessments and I was right.

I watched it when it was on whichever streaming service it was on, Prime? Britbox? Can’t remember. I might rewatch it on the iPlayer if I get a gap. I liked it, but think I preferred the two lockdown series they did. The two couples are very engaging, but Simon is it? The writer? He does my head in.

I watched the first two yesterday and enjoyed it a lot although the second one was a bit hectic. I do think the lockdown series were even better… but then we were just grateful for anything new and good then weren’t we?😀

I enjoyed the first series very much because it was fresh and different, probably the most successful of the various lockdown shows that were made, the second less so and this one not much at all really. The original point is no longer relevant, thankfully, and it seems to me to be struggling now.
Reading back earlier comments on this thread, there were some remarks about the loud, flowery wallpaper in the Tennant household, which has gone. I wonder if they thought better of it after reading comments! The whole kitchen area seems to have had a facelift.

They have said this is the last one because it has outlived its original aims/relevance.

Series 1 was just perfectly right for its time. I’ve started watching it again and remembering what it felt like - and knowing how many of us were in the same position. (Let’s not go down the road to things in high places we didn’t know about) The views of an almost empty London and various other places… The glum expressions on the faces of David and Michael (not much acting needed there!)…. But it was a programme which left me smiling Series 2 had too many guests. Didn’t we get the Fleabag woman? And various other unmemorable people? Not exactly the level of Judi Dench’s contribution in the first series I am really enjoying this series, but they are right, there’s nowhere else to go now
