I am getting my kitchen refitted from Monday so everything has had to be emptied into the spare bedroom - no room to swing a cat, not that I would - and I will be without a proper cooker for several weeks (the kitchen is TINY mind you) so today it is tuna salad to use up my last tin of tuna and roast chicken over the weekend to get a last proper cooked meal! I have stocked up on lashings of wine to alleviate my stress and have two carrier bags stuffed full of crisps and Pringles, plus a large Tupperware box of biscuits..... just to keep me going!

I'm having lazy food day today (well, I have baked a cake!!) so we're just having stuff out of the freezer for dinner. MrC and Max will have Aunt Bessie toad in the holes and I'm having a fish pie.

I've had a stressful week at work so first thing on the menu tonight was a large glass of red wine. I'm going to be snacking for tea - just had some feta cheese cubes in chilli oil (thank you Aldi) and will move onto things to dip into a sour cream and chive dip.

Hope your cake was nice... Cake
Marion, as someone else who is going to have the disruption of a new kitchen in a couple weeks' time, you have my utmost sympathy! Will it take several weeks?? mine is supposed to be done in 10 working days...
Lugsbug - a snacky meal with a bit of vino can be very nice, in the days when I was able to drink alcohol I would have enjoyed the best part of a bottle of Cava (OK, the whole bottle ) with a bag of pork scratchings and a lump of cheese!

Well, Mal, they have said it will be a few weeks. Mine is in a shocking state so they will have to get it right back to year zero before moving forward. I shall be OK on my carbs and booze though! oh and a good few tranquilizers.

For tea we are having prawn wraps (small prawns with Greek yoghurt and a little bit of mayo and ketchup), with salad, lemon and coriander in tortillas. The dressing comes out really nice, honestly!

Yesterday I had Tescos beef stew and dumplings. Wildly inappropriate for August, but I had a craving. It was lovely, but I did then have to have a lie down, I was so full!

Husband made an Indian feast for tea: tandoori chicken (if you marinate it early in garlic, ginger and lemon, then add the later marinade of spices, yoghurt etc, it gives it a lot of extra flavour), mushroom bhaji and spicy rice with spinach. Was very tasty.

Some people seem to think that summer is for salads and barbecues and not much else, but sod the seasons - if you want something that bad, I say go for it (enjoyed Mr Brains' Faggots tonight )

I'm having a girlfriend round at 5pm for a natter in the sun on our balcony and we shall enjoy iced soave spritzers, then I'm making mini Thai mince balls with satay sauce, mini salmon and coriander tarts, mini feta and tomato tarts, guacamole with sour dough toasts, and mini melon pieces with Parma ham. And any leftovers will have to do my OH when he gets back from golf later ....

Beef casserole - yum! Do you do dumplings with it? (that's what Dad puts in his..)
Wineguzzler, that sounds well posh nosh Too flamin' hot for cooking much, so another ping meal tonight - M & S cod in parsley sauce, with mash, carrots and peas.. I forgot to mention that I've got back into the habit of having a little nibble when I go to bed (savoury snack, kids' sweets, chocolate!)
