Yes I’ve read a couple of the books, as you say completely different to the series. I really enjoyed them, but the series is now a totally different story.

I've given up on the series I'm afraid. I watched half of last night's episode and jumped ship.

I enjoy it but understand that it is different from the books.
I notice I called Leonard Sidney in my previous post! Getting all the names mixed up! Sorry.

The romantic entanglements of the vicar seem somewhat implausible. What would the Bishop think? Especially when the spurned fiancé and gossipy parishioners have a word in his ear.

They don't know. He was meeting the inspectors fiancé in the day time.
I don't think many parishioners would be in the jazz club.
I'm sure many single vicars had entanglements as you put it.

I am sure they did. It would be kept very quiet - this was the 50s after all.

It was also a time when nobody was looking for it or very suspicious about what a person might be up to in the day time or the night time for that matter.
I mean for some sex in the day time would just be unheard of, and yet others were having affairs for years.
There was a sort of expected innocence that belied the shenanigans.

The last episode was wrapped up as though it is the end of the whole series. A lot happened in the last 15 minutes!
But I enjoyed it and hope it isn't the last we see of Tom Brittney!

Yes I thought that all the loose ends were tied up very neatly in the last few minutes, I too hope it is not the end

I couldn’t believe how rapidly they got to the wedding! In the space of one episode. I too wondered if it was to tie up loose ends in case it wasn’t recommissioned.

I gave up on the ITV HUB so I'll take your word for it that lose ends were tied up. Who got married to whom.

I'll put it in a spoiler. {SPOILER:Click to Show}Did you see Will get stabbed? Anyway, he recovered and, probably after a good while, he married Bonnie. This was obviously on the cards all along.
