Oh, it gets better.
My microwave packed up a couple of months ago, but since it was warm weather I just ate salads.
Been nagged into getting a new microwave by my friend, as winter is coming.
Just been delivered. Nearly killed myself getting it out of the box, only to find that the lead isn't long enough to reach the socket.

Frustrating, but easily fixed with an extension lead ... which you probably don't have to hand! Can you free one up temporarily from somewhere else? They are really cheap to buy in supermarkets or DIY stores.

I know it is a relatively simple fix, but on top of everything else, it is just so frustrating.

I've found that the first law of new electrical appliances is that the lead is never long enough. I'm sure they're shorter than they used to be years ago - probably a safety thing.
The second law is that the door, if it has one, will open the wrong way round...

I think I have extension leads in every socket except the kitchen, which is new and has loads of sockets all over the shop. I also have spare extension leads in the cupboard! I think leads are shorter and older properties don’t have enough sockets!

I've found that the first law of new electrical appliances is that the lead is never long enough. I'm sure they're shorter than they used to be years ago - probably a safety thing. As with Wagon Wheels, they're not shorter...your arms are longer. The lengths of power cords are regulated by the IET Code of Practice (the professional body for electrical engineers, among others). It depends on the power of the appliance and the diameter of the cable, while having to consider the conditions of different electrical systems in all homes. High power items, such as kettles and microwaves, typically have shorter leads for this reason but, in view of convenience, as items that are also on countertops, lots of ungathered cable is not desirable either. In respect to microwaves, if you're left handed, they're ALL the wrong way around. (there's one available, as far as I know, and a few bottom hinge, but they're all insanely expensive, usually combi ovens, and therefore not good as being microwaves or conventional ovens)

Lawks!
I had a bad night last night.
Usually, whatever position I lie in, some part of me aches.
Last night it was everything, except my feet.
I had a realisation this morning as to cause - lifting the new microwave out of the box, and onto the top of the fridge.
Why are they soo heavy? This one is way heavier than the last one, and that was heavy enough.

This is no help, but I am pleased to say my microwave bought in 1992 is still going strong. (It will probably pack up tomorrow now!)

How are you getting on with your new TV?

OK. Still a little miffed about the lack of EPG button on the remote, but it is pretty simple to use.
Haven't found the re-tune function yet. That could be interesting if we get another re-jig of channels!

Hello. I have received two SIM cards and a mobile. One SIM card has a phone number the other doesn't. Only the one without a number fits in the new phone. Online activation won't recognise the phone number as correct and obviously I don't have a number for the card which actually fits into the phone. Phone settings show 'no number'. Help please?!

Can you post a photo of the packaging? Sometimes the phone number and sim number is on the back of that.

Sadly its not. One SIM pack has a phone number but the pack with the SIM which does fit only has codes no phone number. Both came together so I hoped the one number might be for both cards but when I log on to the website 'number not recognised.'

Did you try punching in the codes?
Or call the help line and keeping pushing 0 until you get a live voice to walk you though it. Usually if the packaging is confusing they are well aware because they are getting daily calls for assistance.
