ITV’s Peter James adaptation Grace will premiere on Sunday March 14th at 8pm.
Grace follows Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, a hard-working police officer based in Brighton who has given his life to the job.
The series opens with Grace’s career at rock bottom. He’s fixated by the disappearance of his beloved wife, Sandy, which haunts his thoughts. He’s in the last chance saloon running enquiries into long forgotten cold cases with little prospect of success.
Following another reprimand for his unorthodox police methods, Grace is walking a career tightrope and risks being moved from the job he loves most. With so much at stake, his colleague Detective Sergeant Glenn Branson knows he has more to give and asks him for help with a case.
When a stag night prank appears to go wrong and the groom goes missing, Branson calls upon Grace to unravel events that led to the mysterious disappearance three days before his wedding to his beautiful fiancé.
The drama series, which is based on the Peter James novels Dead Simple and Looking Good Dead, stars John Simm (Prey), Richie Campbell (Top Boy), Rakie Ayola (Noughts + Crosses), Laura Elphinstone (Chernobyl), Amaka Okafor (Vera), Brad Morrison (National Theatre Live; Twelfth Night), Rebecca Scrogs (Alex Rider) and Alexander Cobb (Doctors).

I love these books. I’m pleased they are starting with the first one and hope they progress in some kind of order. I have about 3 still in the unread pile(s) so don’t want them to overtake me. He really is a prolific writer!

Big fan of this crime series so looking forward to the TV adaptation. Same person who bought Lewis to the screen, apparently, so should be good.

I love crime novels and tv series. The names of the author and the main character are familiar to me but I cannot for the life of me remember reading any of the books. Since they are set in Brighton, a place that has very strong family connections for me and which I am familiar with, you would think I would remember the books! I wonder if I started reading and gave up for some reason. I will be watching though.

Gosh this is good. Faithful to the book from what I remember - a long time since I read it.

Not for me I'm afraid. Mumbled dialogue and implausible story. Hope others enjoy it though.
Perhaps on a Sunday evening I've got too used to detective whimsy in MacDonald and Dodds.

Goodness me, possibly should have a claustrophobia warning... but very good!

Definitely a contrast to MacDonald and Dodds! If you’re expecting Midsomer Murders type plots this isn’t it, but gripping it is! Will definitely watch more.

I liked it. McD & D is fun but it is on a par with Murder She Wrote - light and fluffy. This is more realistic. Peter James has been hailed by serving officers for making his books true to police life - note the wearing of protective suits when examining evidence in a home.

We both enjoyed this one. Will certainly be looking out for more. The cast was interesting and the story evolved so naturally as the events unfolded.

Gosh this is good. Faithful to the book from what I remember - a long time since I read it. ....it didnt hit me till 20 minutes in that I had read it....it was a little rushed I thought but I guess thats inevitable compressing a book into 2 hours.....

Have just had to have a break from watching my recording due to the afore-mentioned claustrophobia. It has brought to life one of my worst nightmares but it IS very good. I'll give it a while before I go back to it though!
