I thought it was good, but a bit mumbly on the dialogue. Also, I may have been distracted for a few minutes, but why didn’t the rest of the stag party know where Michael was buried?

They were all killed in the traffic accident before they could rescue him or let anyone know.
I did enjoy this but not as much as the book, although the burial and the car crash were an extremely exciting/tense read so hard to match in the film when you know the plot IYKWIM. I liked the actors except for the fiancée who seemed decidedly underwhelmed by what was going on!
I quite liked John Simm as Roy, was pleased to see the goldfish, but wonder where Norman Potting (IIRC) is.... Perhaps too politically incorrect to be dramatised!

Cross with myself that I didn't record it. I will catch up on the STV player – hopefully will be the same as McDonald & Dodds which played the whole lot without adverts!

And the walkie talkie they were using to tease him was thrown clear in the accident and picked up by the lad who worked on the farm.

Yeah, somehow I blanked that they all died.

Thought it was good, and quite well constructed, occasionally and rather suddenly revealing for us viewers (before the police knew) details of some critical events we'd been wondering about.
I'm looking forward to the next episode, whenever that will be.

Was this a complete story, and was it a one-off? I can't find it in RT. Also, it took the McDonald & Dodds slot, with one episode to go I believe. Next Sunday in this slot it's Midsomer Murders! What's going on?

We were wondering if Covid has meant that some series are still post-production and not ready to broadcast? 2 of the McD & D could be shown and the first Grace, but I think other series have been held up.
There are 17 books so far in the Grace series. I think ITV would want to film them all. The books are best sellers round the world.

Yes, that's probably right. So more Grace in the pipeline then, eventually. I did hear John Simm talking about this the other evening, and he said he'd love to film them all but I don't remember if he said any more have yet been done or if there are plans to.
Actually, it's not a bad idea to have different detective dramas filling the Sunday evening slot – keeps us on our toes remembering who they all are! Unless the same actors pop up in different shows of course, then it would be very confusing!

What's going on? According to a review I read the screening of Grace was brought forward by ITV because it would have clashed with Line of Duty if they had stuck to the intended timetable for it. I'm not sure whether to believe that or not given that none of the main broadcasters normally seem to give much attention to that kind of thing, preferring to compete. On the other hand, it is Line of Duty so maybe ITV do recognise when they are beaten!

.....from the books I always imagined Grace to be older....in his mid to late 50's....approaching retirement.....

I caught just the last few minutes of a radio item which seemed to be suggesting that Line of Duty is still being tidied up but everyone expects all will be ready before we get to the final episodes ??

I have just watched my recording of Grace. I absolutely loved it! John Simm was great and I liked the team he was working with. The permanently angry boss (Raki Ayola) was another story. (Why are TV detectives' superior officers always cross?). I was on the edge of my seat throughout. I used to like The Last Detective, another cop who was a bit of a misfit. I shall look forward to the next one.
