I used to watch that, though I've forgotten nearly everything about it now. Peter Davison took the lead didn't he, and his nickname was "Dangerous", which was pretty much the opposite of how his character appeared.

Peter Davison took the lead didn't he, and his nickname was "Dangerous", which was pretty much the opposite of how his character appeared. That's right, and his colleagues, all bright young things, used to sneer at him because he used old fashioned policing methods and not modern technology.

Episode 2 of 'Grace' will be next Sunday, 24 April 8.00pm-10.00pm - more than 13 months after episode 1!
If you missed episode 1, or have totally forgotten it, that's being repeated on ITV3 this Thursday 21 April 8.00pm-10pm.

Although it was a grim story, I thought this was better than the first one. The ACC isn't so harsh on Roy Grace which is an improvement.
I have read lots of Grace stories and enjoyed them. However, I wouldn't have thought John Simm was Grace. I did also get a bit bored with the "missing wife" storyline.

We stuck with it although we though the storyline was rather grim for a pre watershed start (if there is still such a thing). Also, if only the chap had just given the memory stick in to lost property. Would have saved so much hassle.

I like John Simm and I liked this, though the subject matter was a bit dark for a Sunday evening. Haven’t read any of the books so can’t compare.

I might skip it then if it's grim. I enjoyed the first one but it was pretty near my limit.

(rofl)Yes, one of those tales that rely on an unlikely combination of events.
I found it entertaining, despite with some highly unpleasant details. Quite a high octane finish.

The lesson from the episode is - don’t stick memory sticks you find on the train into your computer!

I might skip it then if it's grim. I enjoyed the first one but it was pretty near my limit. It was very grim, but I stuck with it till sometime in the second hour and then dozed off - woke up in time to see the last five or ten minutes so no real idea who had done what. Because it was so dark I’m not really feeling like going to catch up, so I’ll just never know. Or care. And won’t be bothering about the rest of the series Surprised it was allowed pre-watershed tbh

It seems wrong to say I enjoyed it, considering the subject matter. But I guess it makes for good (if grim) drama.

I saw this recently as a stage play (the Ian Beale vehicle) and it was nothing like as grim as this! In fact they changed the story significantly so no wonder I couldn’t remember much of it. This was a lot closer to the book. He does tackle grim subjects but he doesn’t have a terribly grim writing style, unlike, say, Jo Nesbo.

We watched it last night. I thought it was very good indeed. Grim, yes, but not too complicated. It can wear me out when things jump around or you're meant to pick up on non-obvious clues.

Watched last night and enjoyed it. Nowhere near as grim! I have read all these books but am still enjoying the dramatisation. I did think the last half hour was rushed last night. We seemed to gallop through the explanations.
