When she disfigured herself, why did she make herself look like Heath Ledger as the Joker? Is there a significance to the way she cut herself?

Oh good. Just what we need to cheer us all up. This. I might record it, though for a later date. If I change my mind, I can always delete it. I have a serious problem with the idea that she would go undercover if she has mental health issues.

Set 18 months after S2 and in Belfast, where Marcella is now an undercover cop called Keira. Hugo Speer and Amanda Burton join the cast.

Well that sound grim and I imagine we could all write the plot if we try half-heartedly. I wonder if it will be about Brexit and the Food SHortage Riots...........nah, I think we can guess where we're going here.

Well it’s on and in a double first episode. Not sure why she is putting a laptop in the dishwasher.

I actually enjoyed this more than the other series of Marcella Well I was in two minds but on that basis I shall give it a try! It will have to be a lot better for me to stick with it, I think. She was one of the most unpleasant lead characters in cop drama I think, and the whole thing was pretty bonkers. At least if she is undercover we shouldn’t get the glaring errors in police procedures.

The only glaring error I can see is why she would be undercover in the first place. Given her previous issues, and the fact that it is well documented that there is a high rate of mental health issues amongst undercover police, the only reason I could think that she would be asked to go undercover is that she is uniquely qualified in this particular situation, and even then, given her history, she would be more likely to be a patient in a mental hospital than working undercover. You cannot just suddenly 'go undercover'.

So I enjoyed this more than the original but I got very confused about the relationships in the family. The matriarch is Amanda Burton, how many children did she have? Was Marcella’s first chap a son, and was he then killed by his brother? Marcella lept into bed with him pretty quickly! After seeing her lover shot in the head! Is the pregnant daughter married to the chap who killed the Foreign Sectpretary’s son or was that her brother? Is hand-washing man another son? Who is doing the Eastenders thing of spying through the ceiling rose?
Answers on a postcard, please. 😀

I thought the hand washing man was the one spying through the ceiling rose. I also think the pregnant daughter is married to the one who killed the foreign Secretary’s son. The rest I’m not sure about. I was going to give up on it after the first episode, but watched the second one last night and think I may give it another episode.

I just had a look on digispy and the theory there is... Marcella’s first boyfriend was the Maguires’ accountant and she was with him to get proof that he was cooking the books. Marcella’s actual boyfriend was always the Maguire son she slept with, so presumably she was under-under cover. The pregnant daughter’s husband was the one who killed the Foreign Secretary’s son (although for some reason I thought that happened in London so he got back to Belfast quickly). Hand washing guy is a son and also the ceiling peeper.
