We can all say some of the penalties were bad, some for us and some for them. If they had to do all 11 players maybe it would be different but it isn't and they don't. Perhaps that would be more fair in the end.
A tournament final is do much more pressure than against West Ham in November or anyone.
Proud we got to a final, we mustn't forget what a break through this is.

Absolutely! This is a great team. And I mean a team. They support each other, they have a social conscience, they are fine young men. And so much better than the last lot who played like they couldn't give a toss. Well done to Gareth Southgate for moulding a team of young men that are actual good role models.
Very proud of them.

Have to say though, I really hate the stutter run-up. I knew Rashford was going to miss as soon as he paused.

Me too, that stupid stutter thing- just take the camera out like Maguire. Doesn't matter if you have a tall goalie he's got to go one way or the other.
I really felt for Rashford, hardly a look in all tournament and penalties after 6 minutes. If he'd freshened up the team at 80 minutes we might not have needed penalties at all.
Apparently Grealish and Sterling didn't fancy it. I don't think they take them for their team.
Well done though.
That said the ref missed a couple of red card fouls and a player coming back on the pitch during play.

Italy are now undefeated in 34 matches so you’d assume the better team won, England got further than they have in decades. I feel sorry for the players who will now have to face abuse from the cowards online. I hope that the authorities go after them, the scenes of violence and destruction were shameful but if that’s how English folk treat their own city that’s up to their neighbours.
Next sport is the Lions matches and the olympics

Considering there were over 60 thousand people at the stadium and probably double that across the capital and many of those people had been drinking a fare old time, 49 arrests is probably below average for an event like this.
However it is time the govt got really heavy with the online racists and those that defaced Marcus Rashford's mural in Manchester. Put some money in it and get them found and arrested. Just saying the equivalent of "Oh that's not nice" doesn't work especially when you more of less praised people booing when the players took the knee.

Best overall team won the tournament. How many matches is that unbeaten?

34 I think.
I was interested in how the Italian players put their hands behind their backs to avoid 'hand ball' when near the net. Must be a technique that is taught in Italian clubs.

Well if this is what makes them the best then I'll opt out, and I wouldn't be too proud if this bloke was my relative. It was a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes Rufus, the rest is a lottery. And they didn't have a clean sheet on penalties either. I'd say that made England as good as the Italians.

Best overall team in the tournament I said. Showed how well England played. I agree. England played as well as the Italians last night.

The number of arrests isn't a reflection of the level of disorder but a reflection on the availability of officers to deal with it, diminished by the fact that 19 police officers are now off work due to injuries sustained. No to 2030 World Cup.

What is always more interesting is when they publish what the arrests were for.
So 60 arrests could be 25 for urinating in a public place, 10 for drunk & disorderly, 10 for theft, 10 for criminal damage and 5 for affray/ threatening behaviour, assault etc.
You'd hope 19 would be for assaulting a police officer, but they rarely are.
What you end up with normally is 35 drunk people who are easy to pick up, thefts where shopkeepers held on to someone, similar for damage and only a handful of the kind of people we need arresting.
I'd rather they ignored the tipsy bloke having a wee up a back lane and got hold of the idiots having a fight or attacking people, I'd rather they got the person intimidating and using threatening behaviour on public transport or towards staff.
Sadly it nearly always ends up being people who were committing offences but at a very low level.

This is worth 10 minutes of everyone's time...
(and why isn't Ros Atkins and his features, like this, on the mainstream news programmes?)

Very interesting. Quite how there was not a Hillsborough style crush is a miracle! How on earth did the authorities not realise how this would go down when the first flares were being fired outside the ground hours before the match?
I meant to ask - do the not play for 3rd and 4th place at the Euros?

I meant to ask - do they not play for 3rd and 4th place? No. Euros haven't had a 3rd place play off for a long time.
