If England bomb out I usually plump for Spain as I have family there. I don't however think the pundits fancy Spain at all.

It has been said that the people of England will always support Scotland if the England team get knocked out of a competition.
But as has been observed up here

I don't mind the English Team or even their players, its the commentators and the BBC/ITV main news that continues to have England as the UK Nation.
It always sets my teeth on edge when its said the whole of the UK will get behind England in their match against Scotland/Wales. The commentators were supposed to be neutral but they never seem to manage it. Oh well, 1st outing in 23 years - at least no one was sent off

I managed to listen to the Scotland game on Radio 5 Live (didn't think I'd get it in Italy but there you go). It sounded quite exciting and that Scotland had chances.

They did! The only thing that Scotland did wrong was to put their heads down when they went 2 down. I understand that they are all young and none of them have played in an international competition before but good teams lift their chins and think FI! We are going to do our best and we won't be beaten. And TBH, the fans didn't help by going so quiet and acting like the team were already beaten. They should have done what the Welsh do, sang their hearts out and put some fire in their team. If you get beaten you get beaten, but at least you tried.

Scotland had most of the possession and most of the goal attacking, so they are clearly lacking in the finish but, more than that, it was their defence doing most of the work and taking up the percentage play. I'd put it down to a lack of confidence and, as you say, head dropping when really up against it, but they don't have time to have their morale boosted because there are no easy games in the group. |

It was certainly a strange day. Spain just couldn't finish or alternatively Sweden have a cracking goalie.
The same in the Scotland game the Czech goalie had a great game.

Ronaldo's press conference went well. He came in and sat down and to his right, very prominently were two bottles of Coca-Cola. He promptly removed them and replaced them with a bottle of water, saying something like - Coca-Cola is unhealthy, don't promote it, drink water instead. I am paraphrasing because it all happened very quickly.
I wonder if UEFA have had a phone call requesting that he gets a red card!!!

I'm at my Moms and she hates football so I've only seen the first half of the first game. I didn't think I should put her through anymore of that rubbish.
