The Scotland match isn't on TV for us I suppose we could try and find a bar with Sky Sports but going out to watch matches will cost us a fortune!

Is there a wall being painted near you Lugs? You could just look at that.

This is the first time in ages that Scotland have a team with a number of players in the Premier League and other leagues. They have a good chance here Bidie, they're not without skill.
I would prefer them to lose and that is nothing against Scotland but as they are in England's group I would prefer all the teams other than us to do bad to average. If they were in another group I'd be happy for them to win. I think I'm being honest. In terms of football in this group they are for me simply the opposition and we need to beat them.
This happened last time when there were 24 teams from Europe in the cup and we got Wales in our group.
Mind you if we win the group we are on track to play Germany.
I hope this isn't offensive, just I see it as exactly the same as Sunderland in the FA Cup. As much as I like other cities in the UK, I don't want them to beat us; yes, I hear you cry, obviously most opposition teams do beat Sunderland, but that doesn't mean I want them to.

Not offensive in the slightest Beverly - you support your home nation. I obviously want Scotland to win and wonder if we could somehow lock our opponents in their dressing room for the 90 minutes? Give us a chance...
But if Scotland do not do well I will happily cheer for England and for Wales. The Netherlands for my SIL and France since that is where she and Le Bro live.
We do seem to have some decent players this time but sadly our track record of glorious failure remains a fact.

The Fratellis have officially covered Yes Sir I Can Boogie - with some changes to the lyrics - the Scotland football team anthem.

I wonder how long filming was held up for whilst he listened to the game? LOL! Funny to see him dressed as Steve with Martin's voice coming out!

The Fratellis have officially covered Yes Sir I Can Boogie - with some changes to the lyrics - the Scotland football team anthem. Well much as I enjoyed that, it didn’t sound much like football anthem to me! But then I don’t watch football. However I shall look up when they are playing and may tune in for a few minutes to see if I can hear it.

For some reason when they qualified the team sang Yes Sir I Can Boogie and it was filmed and put on Youtube. From then on the song has become an unofficial anthem. It works in as far as it is easy to sing. It may have just been a result of it playing on the radio at the time and the lads joining in.
45 seconds in....
Ken Bruce has suggested it refers to the Scots cry "bacaratt* net"...
(*name under which the 2 young ladies recorded the original).

Thanks for the clarification! I tried to listen but the presenters, especially the front woman, were SO LOUD I had to turn down the volume and then couldn’t hear the crowd. That’s the trouble when they just have a perch in the stadium, like at the Olympic or other athletics. I’ll think I’ll stick with Joan Hickson from last night.
PS I just saw it on a tee shirt!

Well, it being Scotland, at least it won't have the opportunity to become as ubiquitous and tiresome as 'The Great Escape' theme being hammered out endlessly.
