Something suitable for a wake might be more appropriate Lugs.

I wouldn't write Scotland off just yet. England have never got out of a group without losing a game.

In an expected reaction UEFA has said it will fine players who remove sponsored drinks in press conferences. It will allow the removal of alcohol if the player has a religious objection but otherwise the sponsors products must remain in place.
It is expected that Ronaldo will not take part in interviews in the official area. I do not think they can force players to attend the interviews, it is just common place for a team to put someone forward, normally the captain, so perhaps Portugal will simply send someone else along, like the manager.
Hopefully the next time around they will find sponsors of a different kind. We all remember F1 and snooker etc being sponsored by tobacco companies and now it is tech companies and the motor industry instead.

Ronaldo could afford to just pay the fines. I hope he does!
Meanwhile, in Scottish player interviews, the cry goes up
"Where's the cola?"

Ronaldo could afford to just pay the fines. I hope he does! Meanwhile, in Scottish player interviews, the cry goes up "Where's the cola?" Irn Bru, surely? It's not the players that will be fined, so he'd have nothing to worry about (from UEFA). It will be the national federation that the player plays under that will be fined. It would be up to them to decide which sanction, if any, to apply to the player. Without any class whatsoever UEFA tried to guilt players like Ronaldo and Manuel Locatelli (who did likewise during his interview for being Man of the Match following Italy v. Switzerland) by claiming that partnerships allow the development of youth and women's football. With no hint of irony whatsoever, they simply don't understand that if they need Coca Cola to do that they are doing all sorts of things wrong. No, they just want the money that fills their accounts...any trickle down to grass roots is purely inconsequential. I'd want the question asked - "have you ever tried to find a sponsor for youth and women's football that isn't somehow related to soft drinks and fast food? Maybe a healthy living brand?". I doubt it. It's been reported that what Ronaldo did wiped billions off Coca Cola's value. Sure, he won't have helped, but it was appalling sales for Coca Cola, which were coincidentally issued that day, that caused the reduction in value. Maybe UEFA should be looking for a company that isn't in decline.

Coca Colas shares went up the next day, so it was just a blip.
There are tons of companies that would share sponsorship for an event like this. They just go for the easy ones every time, like the Olympics doing MacDonalds. I know you can have a salad and fruit in MacDonalds and they have the calories on everything but that not their main game.
They choose 6 massive companies instead of 12 smaller ones. Other sports have managed the change quite well, there's no reason not to.

Pleased to learn that Erikson has had a successful heart op and is now home with his family. Nice message from the hospital and from him and his family thanking everyone for all the good wishes. Whether he will ever be able to play top flight football remains in doubt.

Well, wasn't that exciting?
Said no one.
Oh dearie me - I feel I should offer to play in the second half, if only for nuisance value.

I know the pundits are talking about the rain and the wet grass, slippy ball, difficult vision, but surely every team in the UK is used to that.
Kane has no legs so why does he keep running up the pitch when he can't run back.

Lord this is so lack lustre I nearly fell asleep there. Just my neighbour coming home woke me up.
Yes I know there could be a cracker of a goal any minute, but I can't see where it's coming from for either team.

Were you two watching the same game as me? I enjoyed every minute of that! And the last 15 minutes were a cracker! I'm pleased for Scotland. I hope both teams get out of the group. And Scotland are no where near as bad as you make out, Bidie. There was some great defending and beautiful passing. Just the shots were not great. Although they did force a couple of saves.

I’m really pleased with the result as the chatter before was how much Scotland were going to be beaten by, all we need now is for all the fans to get home safely without causing a spread and no vandalism.

We're not "bad" - we just have no luck. I expect that is us out of the tournament. But by the same token if England cannot beat Scotland (the Girl Guides 11 B-team) they will also be out. Oh dearie me - 90 minutes of my life I will not get back. Imagine paying for train/flight tickets to go down to England for that!

I don't think all the chatter before was about Scotland being beaten, I remember saying don't write them off.
They cancelled each other out and neither team could score. There was way too much passing back from both sides.
My dad would've said they played for a draw abd we know that's just football banter, but that's what it looked like to me.
