Two incredible matches in the sevens Rugby! USA were 21-0 up against GBR, but GBR came back to win 26-21! Then South Africa were 7-0 up against Argentina and Argentina had a man sent off in the first half, but Argentina went on to win 19-14! Felt for the sent-off guy. Amazing result.

I love this Colombian lifter! Screaming at the gods to let her lift the bar. And the compulsion to lie down and have a good old tantrum even when you know you have to get off the stage. I love the passion of lifting.
And bad luck to Sarah but she went for it even though it was way more than she's ever lifted. Proud of her.

Darn. Are the BBC going to show a proper replay of the Mens 200 Metres freestyle final?

Darn. Are the BBC going to show a proper replay of the Mens 200 Metres freestyle final? All I've seen is a brief edited version accompanied with all the celebrations.

BBC I-Player coverage is pretty threadbare. Feared the worst when they stopped banging on about it and it was all about red button.

Discovery, which owns Eurosport, beat the EBU in securing the rights to the Olympics from 2018 to 2024, so don't expect any better / different coverage next year in Beijing (same time zone as Japan of course), or in Paris in 2024, where a lack of comprehensive coverage will likely be harder felt. It was, of course, the money that speaks, and that's all that bothers the IOC...the number of viewers watching is merely incidental. The same happened in the US.
Discovery had to basically invent the + channel to do this (it was originally launched in the UK in 2018 as QuestOD but no one watched it) but the deal with the IOC did stipulate that they had to make a certain number of hours FTA, but they have no FTA channels in the UK, hence sub-licencing to the BBC. The BBC did announce, in 2017 (two years after the deal was done) "The BBC’s coverage of the Olympic games has changed. We will continue to bring extensive coverage from the Games including all the must-see moments." and said no more. If you live in Norway, for example, you can watch as if no different.
Viewers don't count. Money does, and they do count it, otherwise these games would have been cancelled anyway.

Oh dear. I’m still watching my recording of the breakfast show. So far our coxless four has almost collided with the Italian boat, so no medal there, because some poor chap forgot to steer! Unheard of in an Olympic final said the commentator . And in the 3m synchro diving we have just had a surf’s up moment so are currently last. Jack Laugher won a gold in this in Rio. All this and in real money I am only up to 7.30.😲

Gosh the tension in the dressage! I could barely watch. But bronze for Charlotte on a new, young horse, so well done to her. The German woman who won was in her debut Games so bravo to her.

So now we're getting the last set and tie break of Andy Murray going out.
That happened yesterday I think.
This really is a 3rd class service on the BBC.
Someone rang the radio today furious that they were just getting 5 minutes of the sailing.
Wait until the athletics starts, if it's the same carry on people will go nuts.

The Men's All-Around wasn't the best competition I've ever seen. Nice to see the Japanese team aren't going to miss Uchmura though.

I gave up on the BBC output a while back. I watch on Eurosport, which has a red button with at least eight different channels. Just the job.

Presumably you need a TV a bit newer than mine to access Eurosport etc? It must be on its 5th Olympics now

Canoe-ing this morning - exciting stuff! I think this is live and we are getting to see all the contestants rather than just the Brits.
