Holding will premiere on ITV on Monday March 14th at 9pm.
Holding is set in the insular fictional village of Duneen, West Cork, on the edge of Ireland, a place with its own climate and rhythms. Local police officer, Sergeant PJ Collins, is a gentle mountain of a man, who hides from people and fills his days with comfort food and half-hearted police work.
When the body of long-lost local legend Tommy Burke is discovered, PJ is called to solve a serious crime for the first time in his career. PJ finally has to connect with the village he has tried hard to avoid.
The drama series, which is based on the novel by Graham Norton, stars Conleth Hill, Siobhán McSweeney, Charlene McKenna, Helen Behan, Amy Conroy, Brenda Fricker, Pauline McLynn and Clinton Liberty.

I read the book a couple of years ago and loved it, so will definitely give the series a go.

I've seen the trailer a few times, will be giving this a go. Brenda Fricker is the only actor I recognize.

I'll give it a go. In the cast I mostly recognise Siobhán McSweeney - from Derry Girls & a travel documentary on Northern Ireland. (I gather she also hosts a pottery programme that I don't watch).

There's 3 I recognise. Brenda Fricker was in Casualty many moons ago. Conleth Hill was in GoT, the recent drama set in Vienna, and the Smurf in Car Share! Pauline McLynn was Mrs Doyle in Father Ted.

Did anyone watch. It's a,strange collection of people, all of whom could have a motive for the murder. A bit usual suspects in terms of caricatures and I'm not sure I like the policeman much. Everyone seems to have a drink problem. I'll watch the next one.

I can just imagine Graham Norton's answer to that, Beverley - "they're in Ireland. Of course they have a drink problem!"
I thought it was a great start.

I was about to say that! The Irish Drinking Gene. And tbf, there's not much else to do in West Cork

I watched it. I couldn’t honestly say if I liked it or not, but I’m going to watch the next one. I was a bit distracted by the detective wearing a suit like The Joker’s. The sergeant appears to be a compulsive eater. It’s quirky enough to keep me interested for now. Pauline McLynn is always good.

I have to say not one character looks how I imagined them when I read the book! Not one. It’s enjoyable, although I think I preferred the book.
