Watched it through, but found it a bit unsatisfying at the end. Never really got to care about the characters involved, and think that downed my enjoyment rather. Shame really, as in light of the number of historic cases which have been recently tried, there was a very good series here. Perhaps it was for others, but not for me.

I think the writer tried to pack too much in to a 4-hour programme – not his choice perhaps. The subplot of the daughter's addition and suggestion (which seemed to be unfounded) that she may have been abused was unnecessary. More time could have been spent on the preparation of the case – the defending barrister, played by Kerry Fox, only had two scenes and one of those was a bizarre interrogation of Marie about her sex life.

I was quite happy with the ending - especially after warnings that there might not be any conclusion - the daughter's problems were left unanswered though which was a shame (unless I missed anything).
I was right that Carl was dodgy - career over honesty - which surely explains how Savile got away with it for so long.

Think I can recall an Olympic diver recently saying he was cliff diving at the Blue Lagoon I wondered where it was.

I don't think so ![s0904](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/negative/s0904.gif) ... wasn't he one of the people Paul spoke to in the house while he was looking for her

She was talking to Carl just before .. maybe they had arranged to meet at his house and he was trying to get out ..after all he did lie about having seen her

I don't think she went off with Carl as he had lied in court. She went off both of them, I think. (But I still don't think she would have slept with Carl in the first place.)

Just watched the end tonight, thought it was a bit ridiculous with Paul hollering after his wife. Carl was a whimp not giving him away but as he intimated earlier the two were sort of inseparable and his name would have gone down the pan for not reporting what he'd heard. As for the daughter one's left whether she knew about the baby sitter and whether that had any bearing on her mental state, who knows. All in all a difficult subject to broach in fairness and I won't be watching it again.

Thought it was a good series exploring a difficult and current subject. As for Carl he hinted at his reason to lie earlier when he said a guilty verdict would hit the repeat fees. P.S. Apology for my earlier post it should have been in the Penelope Kieth thread ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)
