I know I'm biased but I don't think this is nearly as well organised as the Brum Ting. I've watched a few sports now and there's been some sort of cock up in all of them.

I think there are a lot of cock ups in the coverage and the computer graphics. These have been wrong, or non existent! In the gymnastics you could hear Matt in the background trying to get the computer glitches sorted. I haven’t watched that many sports to spot problems in the actual events, although I would say that the velodrome was hopeless and as they said, completely changed the nature of races as there was no space for tactics, you just had to go full pelt from the off. The men’s all round coverage was better than the women’s. Either they sacked the useless director, or the fact there are six items on the go means fewer longueurs which they were incapable of filling. The BBC always seem to film everything so can fill the gaps with recorded vaults etc. Even in the diving some of the onscreen info has been wrong, and that’s not exactly a full pelt event. Also at the gymnastics, they seem to be playing music all the time in the hall, and I’m sure it was still playing over the floor music for the women. What was that about? Madness!
Well done to Joe Fraser, I couldn’t watch that high bar routine live! The nerves, the racket! I always think of Wimbledon where if anyone coughs as they are about to serve it’s all glares and daggers drawn. Here, the crowd goes nuts regardless of whether someone on a 10cm beam is just about to take off on their acrobatic sequence, which I would suggest is slightly more hazardous!

There's been cock ups in the athletics as well. Especially with timings. And the pole vault has been nerve racking. In the decathlon, quite a few hit the edge of the mat and one fella missed it altogether.

Miranda, it was FAR, FAR worse. Let me stress, FAR, FAR WORSE! I think the only thing that was better (very slightly) was that they had a few computer graphics so you knew who was where, but that’s about it. Endless long shots of gymnasts waiting about. Actually had I been one of them I’d have been pretty pissed off to be filmed so much. It is better in the team and individual events though.

I think a lot of the problem is that they always tend to show their own competitors which is understandable. We do the same actually.

Women’s 3m springboard final. What a shocking standard of diving in this! I mean you expect a few mistakes but apart from the top three there were endless errors, mainly under-rotation. Leon said it was a very low scoring event. However, {SPOILER:Click to Show}We did win a bronze. |
