Much better play from England even if the penalty was perhaps a little odd...
Strange that the scuffle round the net was not shown again. I suspect the ball had gone over.
But them's the breaks...

How on earth did we get to a final playing like this? One dodgy penalty and one moment of brilliance in 95 minutes of tedium.
I think this is the worst Euros I've ever watched. And someone needs to check that ref's bank account.

That ref has history so the Netherlands might be asking for an enquiry. I’ve had all the matches on the tv but few have caught my attention. England haven’t played good football so that’s the hard bit to accept. I have nothing against the players but the media circus that goes with them needs to be muzzled. Not put the TV or radio on yet as can’t cope with the hysteria yet.
Was it a good match? I had it on but none of it caught my attention

No, it wasn't, Monic. All the top teams are so boring, it's ridiculous. I watched it on catch up and FFd most of the second half.
And if this is what it takes to win competitions these days, then I fear for the future. I hope the women don't start playing like this.

There’s a comments page on BBC news where you can comment on Starmer not wanting to Jinx the England team. My comments have been removed cos I don’t think a public holiday is necessary and I don’t agree the players are hero’s.
In a way I feel sorry for the players as the pressure must be horrific. It must have been the World Cup where England went out on penalties and there were death threats made against the players. That’s just wrong. I like football but this media hysteria gets on my nerves.
Germany v Scotland was like professional versus village team in places. Very few of the games in this tournament have caught and kept my attention.
England would have more support from the other home nations if the media wasn’t so arrogant.
I want to see an exciting game where the best team wins and if England doesn’t win do not abuse the players or managerial team.
Will there be a match between France and Netherlands for 3rd & 4th places?

That penalty in England's favour was certainly pulled apart by the pundits during the half-time interval - but haven't we suffered unfair penalty decisions in past games? I know it can seem like England have only made it to the final on 'a wing and a prayer', but they did play better football last night... Had to smile at the message from the King, though: If I may encourage you to secure victory before the need for any last minute wonder-goals or another penalties drama, I am sure the stresses on the nation’s collective heart rate and blood pressure would be greatly alleviated!
