Some brilliant sport tonight with a mixed 4 x 4 relay race giving GB a bronze - but the Dutch lass who ran the final leg for The Netherlands to bring home the gold, was wonderful. The US keep getting pipped at the events they normally win.
Oh, and that win for St Lucia in a womans race, again the US had to make do with 2nd and 3rd.
(Aren't female runners GLAMOROUS these days??? All nails, hair, eye lashes etc done beautifully...)

Missed the 4x4, I will have to catch up later.
Dominica got their first ever gold in any sport! I love seeing the little squads get medals. For so many, it's so hard to get the funding and facilities, it's a tribute to their grit and determination to win.

Last event of the decathlon about to start.
I used to love watching Daley Thompson wobble round the track, completely unconcerned about who won.

Alfred from St Lucia is the women's 100 metre Olympic champion. That's something I thought I'd never say.๐

I am not keen on the Athletics. Too many, over the years, have been found to be enhanced with meds. I love the variety of the other events, some well known to viewers, others obscure. ALL interesting. I enjoy all the sports apart from the tedious basketball and the pointless beach volleyball. How about beach badminton or beach table tennis?

Oh, we woz robbed in the shooting! Our girl came second in the shootout but had one clay ruled a miss, whereas VAR would have shown a hit. Bummer! She might still have lost but we got a silver. I think she was pretty mad though, with the officials not the winner.

Well I think we woz robbed again, but what do I know? Anyhoo, Harry Hepworth got bronze in the vault, our first EVER menโs vault medal. Personally I think he should have got silver and Jake bronze, but I may be biased, ๐๐.

I was enjoying that Djokovic /Alcaraz tennis match and annoyed when they cut to something else after the first set.

And I was annoyed when they cut to their match! Each to his/her own!

I was enjoying that Djokovic /Alcaraz tennis match and annoyed when they cut to something else after the first set. Me too. Though I thought they'd return to it from where they left off. Watching the women's cycling and they specifically interrupted it to give out the final result. That Djocko had won! Unbelievable.

So happy that Jasmine won a Gold medal in the women's doubles after losing consecutive singles finals at Wimbledon and in the French.

Hmmmm. The men's 100m. I always get suspicious when a commentator mentions how different a runner is between the semi and the final. Especially an American, given the history of doping in their athletics team.
I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if that gold goes to Thompson in a few days.
