Bronze in the diving. I was totally immersed in this when we suddenly switched to rowing because we were going to win gold (we didn’t). When we came back, we had missed a whole round, and there are only 6! Personally I thought the Mexicans were robbed because as usual the Chinese were overmarked. A slight mistake in their second? dive but they got higher marks than for their first. Ridiculous. GOLD and silver in the rowing, 👍 I know people are disappointed not to win, but I would be pretty pleased with an Olympic silver medal but British male rowers don’t seem to value them at all. I’ve noticed this for years. Legacy of the Redgrave and Pinsent years! |

Yes, well thinking about that, it is of course Matthew who does the interviews. His style is rather… you must be gutted to have missed out on gold. Whereas others go.. Fantastic! A bronze medal, you must be thrilled! 😂

Runners going round and round in a circle for goodness knows how many laps makes me lose the will to live!
And the focus/tone of the reporting changes - I’ve already heard one commentator say ‘Now the real Olympic stars have arrived..’

I am not keen on the Athletics. Too many, over the years, have been found to be enhanced with meds.
I love the variety of the other events, some well known to viewers, others obscure.
ALL interesting.

I don’t bother to watch it unless it is something like Super Saturday with loads of finals. Too many heats for me. And YES, they do change the tone and regard it as the real star of the games. Well I beg to differ! Give me gymnastics and diving any day of the week! I can’t bear the trackside interviews nor Dame Denise being snitty with Michael Johnson. At least he can usually be relied upon to tell it how it is when we are doing badly and not trot out all that guff about taking the positives and learning from our mistakes etc. |

An example was ..."good win, but"...! I turned the sound off this morning. |

Team GB are doing so well in a variety of sports!
Le Bro and co enjoyed the road race from a pavement café in Paris. The weather was cooler which helped the athletes.
