Well I’m jolly suspicious of the Chinese swimmers.
We got a bronze in the mixed triathlon! We did get silver but the US appealed the photo finish and we were downgraded. Boo!

I do not know her name, but there is a lady presenter in the BBC Olympic studio who would romp home in a Josephine Baker look a like competition!

Is that Jeanette/Janette someone who presents with JJ? I think she was an Olympian herself. I quite like her. And Claire on the swimming.

She is Jeannette Kwyake. Just looked in the Radio Times.

Just caught up with the gymnastics. So many falls!!! Did they buy some used gym equipment from eBay? It was unbelievable. Good to see a medal for Ukraine 🇺🇦, an unexpected gold for Italy on beam and a gold for the lovely Andrade. Mind you, that Italian gymnast is one of the most miserable gymnasts ever! She NEVER smiles, except after the beam today of course, 😂.

I haven't been following the Olympics but I did learn that Jokkers won the gold and have just been watching on playback the moment he won. I have not been feeling the love for him over the years but was rather pleased (given that Murray, Federer and Nadal were not there) that he has done it. Now of course he'll be after a second gold – the essence of a great athlete is that they never stop wanting more, as Murray has repeatedly shown. And Alcaraz is young and will have more chances.
I've been listening to a short piece on PM on R4 about post-win or lose interviews and the style of questions deemed appropriate. Personally I wish they would shut up and go away and allow the athlete to savour (or not) the moment – they can't possibly ask anything meaningful.
It is a bit different for professional tennis players and the like who earn their large prizes because they are entertainers and who are to an extent public property, but there are limits. And why should Olympic athletes who are mainly not in it for the money have a mic shoved in their faces immediately after they have won or lost? I believe Simone Biles tweeted, or whatever it's called these days, something to that effect but haven't seen it.
What do others think?

GOLD, and a WR, in the women’s cycling! Laura Kenny reckons we will get 8 which seems optimistic. She is sharing the studio with Claire and I think she is a breath of fresh air. So bright and breezy. Her husband is such a contrast isn’t he? very quiet and quite serious.
Does anyone know who the Scottish woman is who does the trackside interviews for the cycling? Was she once a rider?

Scottish lady is Hazel Irvine. Don't think she was a cyclist but like Clare Balding she does her homework and is competent at whatever sport she is covering.

I think it is another Scottish woman because Hazel does the linking from the BBC hub. The one track side is blonde and I think she might have been a cyclist.

She is Jill (or Jo) Douglas. She has just interviewed our silver medallists for the men's Sprint.

Two runners in the 1500m, so caught up in their dislike for each other and sure of their supremacy that they forgot there were 10 others in the race
The look of astonishment on their faces when someone swept past them and won!
