I enjoyed this, just what I needed after an IT nightmare. But why on Earth would the reporter go on her own, at night, to the swimming pool when investigating a serial killer who drowns his victims? I knew her days were numbered when she said she would soon be on Page 1..... plot line alert!!!!!!...... but honestly how daft.

I'm sure that there was a big clanger in this episode (Game). It involves the the way in which the chess game was being recorded. The notation used to record the game was the Algebraic Notation system - letters denoting the 'files' and numbers for the 'ranks' on the chess board.
As the episode is based in 1967 the actual notation system used would have been the Descriptive Notation system. Both are explained here...

Yes, I know it's being pedantic, but it is a glaring error.
As for the young journalist, and her boast that her name would be on the front page... lazy script writing there. As soon as she said that I knew she was doomed. It's a pity that script writers seem obliged to conform to stereo-typical plots. Endeavour - and Morse, especially - deserve much better than that.

I do enjoy Endeavour! I think I prefer it to Inspector Morse.

I thought that the Simon Dee look alike was a hoot. I enjoyed the latest "Endeavour" more than last week's because I am no chess fan and yesterday's clues were wordy. I love the interaction between Morse and Thursday. Roger Allam said on Graham Norton's show that 6 episodes of "Endeavour" are to be made this year. Super!

I really enjoyed last night's episode. I was identifying the characters with the 'real-life' people I remember from the time like Mary Whitehouse, the various members of the group and their manager, and the groupies. Great fun!

Oh good. I really enjoy two hour programmes but that often means we only get three episodes and the series is over too quickly then.

Watched it last night and kept saying 'I had a dress like that' etc. So pleased they're doing another six part series, by far one of the best progs on the telly at the moment.

I'm still very much enjoying this series – the acting of the two main characters in particular is first class and I love the period detail, also the little signs of the person that we know Morse will become in later years. Bringing Susan into the story was a nice touch – she is the focus of one of the Morse stories, played by Joanna David. What an awful mother though.
That said, I though last night's plot was a bit overdone – would a young nurse really murder ten innocent people in order to frame someone, and without being caught? She wasn't depicted as a psychopath. And where did she get the insulin from? It isn't just lying around waiting to be used to murder patients.
I also want to give Joan a good shake. Thoughtless, selfish girl! She could at least have contacted her parents to tell them she was all right. She was running away from a traumatic event, not an unhappy home. Grr! Morse could have told her how thoughtless she was being – he isn't shy of tearing people off a strip when needed.
