Yeah...... but TBF you didnt turn up at the Council Office homeless.
It was just a suggestion because it's a Council flat she's in. I recognise it from living in something very similar.

Perhaps her fancy man, who is clearly married, works for the council and can pull strings. Or summink.

I don't like Joan's character the way it's changed. It's cruel beyond belief for her to not at least let her parents know she's ok.

I think she is mentally not well herself. She's self-medicating with the alcohol and the bloke could well be destructive behaviour. If she's depressed she's not really in a mental state to think about the effects of her behaviour.

Well, that was a strange episode, but interesting. I notice Shaun Evans hair is getting curlier - he really does have very curly hair but Morse didn't.

Didn't Morse's hair, what he had, curl up at the back?

I was a little befuddled by this episode. I watched the second half again because i didn't catch much of what Sheila Hancock was saying. I don't like Tarot cards. I have a fear that some people who go for readings in real life are tipped over the edge. I have more faith in dowsing and water divining . I heard as I have said before that there are 6 episodes due for production this year . Perhaps Joan's story will be a running thread. I haven't liked the character's development during these last episodes . She has a cruel streak but she has to be saved from the ruins of herself by someone. Mental illness was difficult to assess in the 60s. Roger Allam was wonderful as usual. I could watch him all day!

Rather a strange episode and something of a cliff-hanger, where does it go from here? In the original stories Morse's, as far as I remember, entire police career was spent in Oxford. We have to wait until the next mini series to find out.

I enjoyed this, I like something a bit creepy. I did think that Thursday would have come down harder on Morse for not telling him that Joan was, at least, still alive!

I thought that. I think Morse got off lightly.

He did have divided loyalty and I expect it would have been very difficult to limit what he told Thursday once he started.

I think Morse , when he found Joan, should have been firmer and insisted she ring her parents just to let them know she was alive and well, and told her he would let them know if she didn't.

It was a bit odd wasn't it? Did he go to the Met or not? I didn't watch the original Morse series of programmes so, can someone tell me please....did he marry Joan? Did he marry anyone? I was willing them to get together when he found her in Leamington and then again when she came to his bedsit. What is the matter with her? He is lovely!
