Did Bright kill himself? I totally missed that! I wondered why the gun fired.

No there was no suggestion he killed himself. It looked like he'd gone out to India to visit his daughter's grave.

Just finished the special programme which was great. I want to watch all three shows again now! I could do with watching Endeavour closer together so the throwback references aren’t lost on me. One thing not made clear to me though is why Morse and Strange had such a bad relationship. I can’t remember Strange ever once being more than barely civil to Morse, yet in the last Endeavour they were still quite chummy.

I thought because it was sunny and he was sitting in a collarless shirt next to a wooden headstone that it was abroad. I just couldn't see Bright walking around so casually dressed in England and he would probably have a stone marking his wife's death here.
I'd have to watch it again to be sure.

"My recording ended early though so have had to capture the last 10minutes on the recorder, but don’t think I missed anything as Morse was singing by then" This happened with my recording too and also with my neighbour's. It's something that often seems to happen. Why? Fortunately I watched "live" as well as recording it so I didn't miss the very moving final moments as the two cars passed each other and the two Morse's watched each other in their rear view mirrors. It was shown in the special programme which I also recorded (and had the last couple of minutes of that cut off too ).

Me too. Very annoying! I will certainly watch this again and while I know it's on catch-up, it's a bit of a faff.

Did it say if that was Russell Lewis at the end who took the book from Morse and said 'yes that's it'? I wondered if it might being, knowing Colin Dexter used to make cameos. I've not seen the making of yet.

Some kind person has put the end scene on YouTube:
Alongside the review in The Times on Monday was an article about the final episode and someone from the production company said the prospect of something Morse-related coming up sometime in the future wasn't totally out of the question.

Thank you! It's also included in the documentary that followed the final episode, which is worth a watch if you haven't yet seen it.

I hope the recording markers were back on schedule by then and we haven't lost any of it! My recording of the documentary also cut out just before the end but I think it was only the credits that got missed. The Jaguar scene was certainly there for me so fingers crossed it will be for you too. I have been told that it is the transmitter that causes endings to be cut but have no idea why that should be or if it's correct. I hate my PVR as not only does that happen but recordings also have a tendency to "jump" so that chunks of a programme are suddenly missed and then the speech is out of sync too. One of these days I will invest in a new smart television and do away with the wretched thing altogether!

Just noticed that Morse and the Last Endeavour is being repeated on ITV1 at 11.10 this evening.

Thanks Helen, I missed it on Sunday - I was watching BBC4 and the Harry Palmer films (Michael Caine is 90 this week) but hurray for I-Player!
