Yes, as Lewis did (though that was right at the start, I think). Wasn't he an older Welshman in the books?
I've now watched the final episode of Endeavour. Not a bundle of fun! There was a hint of The Wicker Man about the village, though it turned out innocently enough. I'm a bit cross at the development of Joan's character, but it does look as though she will be reunited with her parents. While I wouldn't condone duffing up your daughter's boyfriend in real life, I was quietly pleased at Thursday's demolition job!
Are we meant to think Sheila Hancock's character is the one who's been doing the Tarot readings throughout? If not then that element of the story isn't done yet.
As Morse has now got his promotion, I wonder if his exam paper will now be 'found'. He ends up as a Chief Inspector, though probably not for some years. I would imagine he would need to have passed his sergeant's exams to get that far.

I wasn't. It led directly to Joan getting beat up and thrown out.

I seem to remember in the book I read, years ago, Lewis was a Welshman, with dark, curly hair.

The worst one in the series so far IMO, all that ridiculous mumbo jumbo stuff is so OTT, it ruins every drama I've watched and it happens so often.Ruddy chanting at the moon etc. Lets say I won't be watching the repeat of this episode and hope future ones are a bit more down to earth. Why was the doctor's body in the ground so polluted with radiation? Did I miss something?

I thought it was because he was working with the professor to expose the earlier radiation leak. He had been sniffing around the mere, where the polluted water was, and was on his way to the nuclear plant to confront the director when his car left the road. That was an accident that had nothing to do with the radiation, but it led to his death as he met Seth, the would-be boyfriend of the doctor's sister, and taunted him as he actually had been having an affair with her. So his body was irradiated because he had been exposed to the polluted water.
The equinox rituals were unconnected with the nuclear plot and were just there, I think, as a red herring and to show us the quaint ways of the yokels.

I enjoy Endeavour, but rather as a stand alone than as an earlier incarnation of Inspector Morse. The 'Young' bit is done much better IMO in Young Montalbano. The character traits which will become strengths and weaknesses in the older man are very well shown in YM, whereas I don't see as much in Endeavour as regards the older Morse.

I think also that the equinox rituals, Morris dancing and the like sells well across the pond. Nothing to do with the story at all.

Did he think he was dead and was then startled when he revived? I'm not sure, would need to rewatch.
I'm sure you're right. It was quite creepy and it wasn't until Truelove said they'd asked permission to hold their morning ritual that I thought they were OK. BTW, is your avatar sideways on?

It is sideways on yes goodhelenstar- I'm not sure why, the last one was upside down and no amount of resetting would fix it so I gave up. It was the only pic on my iPad that wasn't too big.

Grief linseed, don't tell me the Americans are more gullible than we are? I just wish they wouldn't pedal such nonsense, every time they pursue this kind of garbage I immediately think of 'it's the crap silly one' and turn off.

It think it (the equinox rituals, Morris dancing etc) feeds into the Midsomer Murders vision of the English countryside. We know it's not true, but it is beloved of our neighbours over the pond and elsewhere. I am sorry that Endeavour went down this route though. it didn't feel quite right somehow.

I am surprised that our American friends believe we really live like that. But I suppose its quite entertaining when you've spent the evening handling snakes at the Homecoming Parade. Can I get an Amen?
