Last of series but don't despair. There are 25 old episodes available to watch on BBCI Player. That's about 2 days worth.

As one of the BBC's longest running sitcoms I was very disappointed in this series of SW. It didn't get very dramatic at any point, they didn't go anywhere glamorous overseas for the last story and, most disappointing of all, Nikki wasn't followed even once through an underpass by somebody suspicious in a hoody! What has happened to this great British institution?

Looks like we were right about the assistant I thought she was going to turn out to be the pharmaceutical company boss's daughter. It always annoys me when an explanation relies on information that doesn't come up until the last minute....i.e. she was the daughter of someone Nikki had previously helped to convict who hadn't featured in this programme. Has there been an episode about that case? If so, I don't remember it. The ending was all a bit weak I thought. Perfect Nikki comes out on top again and so doesn't appear to be emigrating after all.

I think Nikki is there for the duration.

I found myself FF during the second episode as I was keen to see why the intern(?) assistant (?) was sabotaging. That’s a sign that there are too many pots on the boil......almost as though there were up to 3 stories which they just couldn’t afford to film, so collapsed unsatisfactorily into one.
I wish the producers/writers wouldn’t treat the viewers as daft:
- interns have never been seen in the show before, so a clear signal of someone dodgy, as other staff in the Lyell are referred to but rarely seen. - why would such an experienced expert witness as Nicky not check and double check their reports before getting in the witness box? IRL, they are a bit obsessive about it, to avoid embarrassment. - most of us on here thought the hearts had been swapped and were shouting “ do a DNA test on the bits to make sure they match!” I agree about the unconnected back story behind the intern....what is it called when stuff like that is dropped in at the end? That’s a no-no in any detective story. Mrs Christie would have been horrified!
Is Dervla Kerwan ( blond?) being tried out for a new character?
So many questions.....such a long a time to find out. Bones got it right and had many more episodes and interspersed longer running stories amongst shorter plotlines and got away with it.

I rather wished I was watching a recording so I could have FF through Nikki pontificating from the witness stand at the end!

It was quite a good story but I thought we were expected to get too much information from onscreen typed messages. I wish the people who make television programmes would realise we don't all have perfect eye sight or cinema sized screens.

I couldn't read any of the messages in that forum! Luckily they read them out most of the time. I quite enjoyed this story and I think it was largely down to the actress playing the DI. I thought she was excellent. I wondered what else she had been in. Casualty perhaps?
