I only discovered by accident yesterday that this was back on. I was pretty much addicted to MM during the John Nettles years, but have lost touch with it since Neil Dudgeon replaced him (no reflection on Neil) and don't even recall seeing trailers for this most recent series. Have I missed much? Last night's seemed to be back on form, from the two thirds of it I actually saw...

This series started last week. The big development you missed is the death of Sykes the dog. We got a sighting of his grave, BOO!!! Apparently the actor dog retired. Oh yes, the Sergeant is new this series as well. But generally it's same old same old, but a same old which I really love. I record all of the ones they repeat on ITV3.

But he was the best character in the show...

I was pleased to see Ben Jones back as he was always my favourite side-kick to a Barnaby. He (Jason Hughes) is in Death in Paradise next week too.

Midsomer Murders will return to ITV to finish airing its nineteenth series from Sunday May 13th at 8pm.
Midsomer Murders follows DCI John Barnaby and his partner as they tackle intricate murder mysteries in the beautiful but deadly countryside of Midsomer.
The series stars Neil Dudgeon, Manjinder Virk and Fiona Dolman. Joining the main cast this season is Nick Hendrix as Barnaby’s new partner, DS Jamie Winter.
In the next new episode, titled Death By Persuasion, when a young girl slips away from a Jane Austen weekend dressed in period attire and is found stabbed in the woods, DCI Barnaby and DS Winter need to look back in time to find the killer.

When you say ‘finish airing its 19th series’ when did it start?

Dunno. Sometime last year, presumably.
I haven't watched any new ones for ages. Just wait until they inevitably turn up on ITV3!
