Saw a headline this morning which said that this show has reached 'hokum overload' or some such description.

The lifeboat incident made me laugh out loud! Hilarious. I did think it missed a scene between the ending of the crime and Barnaby cleaning a cupboard (would you do that in your work suit?). A sort of rumination on what had gone on.

Enjoyed watching it tonight instead of going to usual quiz. Thought it was bonkers, but it had me hooked. Betty. No sign at all of her. She can't be that old yet, can she? I'm out of touch with these episode being so few and far between. Great to see the doggy |

Funny you both should bring up Betty as last night I watched episode that was shown on ITV3 last night. It was from series 16 and showed Barnaby rushing back from Denmark to attend Betty’s birth. That was from 2013, so she’d be nearly 11 by now ( I think the episode I saw was broadcast on Christmas Eve, according to Google).

It was the last series that got me. One episode she was about 5. Next episode she looked 10! . But that series took 2 years to make so .... |

I never felt they played a convincing family at all. Perhaps they have decided that they will cut costs and not hire a young actor. I also read an article online (can’t remember where but no doubt unreliable) that the show is doing badly and might well be dropped! 😱 OH NO!

It's only doing badly as it's so sporadic and few and far between. I love Midsomer Murders, but I'd rather see it in proper series form.
