I've admired Julie as an actress in Corrie, and she is IMO excelling herself so far. I hope she gets other opportunities as a result.

Hesmondhelgh was really good in Cucumber on C4 as well. I think she's a good actress, I'm glad she's not been typecast since Corrie.

Yes, she is good. I didn't know her very well before; she was in Happy Valley last year, but in a fairly small role as the wife of Kevin Doyle's character. She doesn't have many TV credits but as she was in Corrie for about 16 years that's hardly surprising. That's always a difficulty for soap actors – when and if to break out of the mould. It doesn't work for all. Suranne Jones and Sarah Lancashire are both success stories, I can't think of any male actors off hand.

I'm wondering why the detective constable has a different surname to her father. I suppose she could be married, but she seemed a bit young for that. Yes, and it is odd Ellie doesn't seem to know Katie has a relative in the town and on the suspect list. Ed's wife died about 12 yrs ago, apparently, so I guess his daughter may not have living with him for some reason. Or maybe she was the result of an affair yrs ago, before he came to Broadchurch. Nige, Mark's workmate, is listed as a character for this series, so he will turn up sometime presumable.

The woman playing the newspaper boss who's trying to close down the paper played Ophelia to Tennants Hamlet and the SOCO guy Clive (Peter Dr Jersey) was Hortaio. We just need Patrick Stewert to turn up now and we'll have beginning of an RSC reunion.
PS-I got her autograph after the show and she was lovely...strangly the guy who played Tamwar was there as well getting an autograph!

Thought it most odd she wouldn't reveal who she'd had sex with that morning, I thought her husband must have been lying about her having sexual encounters on a regular basis and the fact she was drinking heavily but maybe not. Then I wonder if he knows because he's stalking her and it's him that attacked her, as usual with Broadchurch it's such a good watch because you never know.

I don't think it was that she wouldn't tell them who she'd had sex with earlier that day, but couldn't tell them. She went on to say it was a stranger she met online, so all she would know would be their online name. I think she walked out of the interview because it was revealing that she had a promiscuous lifestyle, which she didn't want bringing out, and which she feared would damage her case.

I think she walked out of the interview because it was revealing that she had a promiscuous lifestyle, which she didn't want bringing out, and which she feared would damage her case. I think that is very likely but my daughter thought it might be that she didn't want to admit to an affair with one of her friends husbands or that she was having group sex. I can't imagine having to explain any of these scenarios to the police after such an incident in an interrogation situation but all I can say is that I hope we can reach a point where people are not judged about these things. I know we haven't but I hope we do soon, it is nobody's business what kind of sex people have and although people may want to keep it private in circumstances like this they are forced to bring it out into the public domain and it shouldn't sway any judge or jury. How many generations do you think it will take?

Crumbs! More suspects! The Telegraph review is good at sifting through everything this week: www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/0/broadchurch-season-3-episode-3-lucass-sinister-stash-ians-revelation/. The Guardian blog, which I read and enjoy, has muddled up some of the suspects, though the comments, as ever, are entertaining: www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/mar/13/broadchurch-recap-series-three-episode-three-only-98-red-herrings-this-week-do-keep-up. Even the Independent, whose TV review is such a mess these days and focuses mostly on showbiz gossip, has joined in: www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/broadchurch-season-3-episode-3-review-recap-latest-series-david-tennant-olivia-colman-a7627526.html. I wouldn't like to call it at the moment. Lucas the taxi driver has peaked too soon as a suspect, unless that's a double bluff. There seems to be more to Ed and Jim's fight than either of them is admitting to, as we now know it wasn't a drunken brawl, at least not on Ed's part, and that he emerged from it very angry. Whatever Trish's estranged husband Ian was up to I suspect wasn't connected with her rape as he seemed genuinely shocked when he found out. I just have a nasty feeling that Ellie's son Tom is involved somehow, and with Mark Latimer refusing to let go of Danny's murder, I wonder if that's where all this is going. If so I hope it works better than series 2 where the two cases detracted from each other.

It's getting complicated, but really interesting, with more connections that we weren't aware of emerging between people. I agree there's more to Ed & Jim's fight, though 3 people now (Cath, Jim and Ed) are all saying it was just about Cath's work rota. I wonder if when young DC Katie visited Ed she tipped him off, so he was able to align his story with Cath & Jim's. RT have done a detailed analysis of Lucas's drawer: www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-03-13/broadchurch-what-is-inside-lucass-secret-drawer

My goodness the plot thickens as they say. I still haven't the remotest idea who it could be.

Neither have I! Suspect everyone is my motto when watching Broadchurch, except the two leads of course.
