This is very good - a massive improvement on the second series, much to my relief. I really don't know who it could be; too many choices, too many red herrings. I don't think there's any real reason to suspect Paul at the moment. I got the impression from that last scene that what Tom has on his phone is more than normal porn, but could be just another dead end.

I really hope this doesn't have a bleak ending, since it's the last series. Hardy looks terrible, Mark Latimer is a mess. Ellie's suffered enough, so please don't let Tom Miller have anything to do with the rape. I wish Hardy & Miller could find out about Harcourt's connection with Ed.
Like Series 1 it could be any of 'em!

They're keeping us guessing that's for sure. Everyone's a suspect at the moment. I've even started to think it might be Hardy! But then I've thought why would he be at the party and wouldn't someone have said he was there. Everyone seems to be hiding something. And what's Miller's son up to. And why won't she say who she slept with of the morning, surely it's to help their enquire or to eliminate them. And what about the rev, what's going on or is going to happen because he seems a little bit on edge, the comment by Miller's dad didn't help when the rev said he could talk to him and got the reaction "I'm not into all that bo***cks". I think he's close to doing something, but what? And Latimer seems to be heading towards vengeance for his son. Good third series.

Good grief I am more confused than ever now. One things forsure...the convicted rapist isn't the one, he is just a nasty piece of work.

I agree, he's a red herring, though he may have been involved in the attack on the woman who came forward at the end of the episode. Depends whether Hardy is right about a serial rapist on the loose.
I also think that Jim, Cath's husband, is in the clear of the rape (though his marriage and Trish's friendship with Cath are probably up the spout). Of the suspects we've met so far my money's on either Leo, the creepy ex-pupil of Ian who instals programs on computers when he isn't handling blue fishing twine, or Lucas the taxi driver, who was out of the main focus this week. I suspect that Sarah, Ian's new girlfriend, was covering for him when she said she'd sent the nasty text to Trish – if she didn't know about the rape then what was she threatening her to keep quiet about?
I would never have thought Hardy would go on a blind date! He'd regard it as a waste of time and be too cynical about human nature. Let's see if anything comes of it.
I wonder what it was his daughter Daisy did that Chloe has now heard about?

My worst moment occurred when I leaned on the remote and flashed to Irish Christian Radio just as Kath was giving her version of who was where gaah
Halfway through and I'm still mystified, but enjoying it.

I lost a few seconds when the satellite picture started breaking up just when they were keeping watch outside the house of the rapist. Hopefully there wasn't some vital clue in that bit of conversation!

I'm beginning to think that Daisy might possibly be involved in the porn that Tom Miller and the taxi driver's stepson have been watching. The three lads who came round to Hardy's house last week might have threatened/bullied/coerced her into, at the least, explicit photos. Ellie was totally oblivious to what Joe was hiding in Series 1; this time it might be Hardy's turn to be unaware of what's happening to his daughter. I'm glad Chloe's approached her in friendship. I hope she can persuade her to tell her dad, if I'm right.
Julie Hesmondhalgh continues to act her socks off and I'd love to give Mark Latimer a good shake. I just can't feel sorry for him, because he's been a selfish, sulky pig since Series 1.
Hope the dreaded Joe Miller puts in an appearance. No idea who the rapist is, but I'm loving every episode.

Hopefully there wasn't some vital clue in that bit of conversation! I can't remember anything being said that seemed significant, so I don't think you missed anything crucial. Famous last words!

The Guardian is on good form again today. Love this from the comments: "It was upsetting watching Lenny Henry beat someone up. Like seeing Paddington Bear rip someone's throat out." Guardian recap

I'm glad they picked up on that. Olivia Coleman's delivery was hilarious!
I'm worried it might be Paul. He's obviously not happy and in need of support his slightly obsessive desire to minister to Trish was a bit crazy, and there's the emphasis on the rapist smelling of alcohol - could the reformed alcoholic have lapsed? On the other hand they've been working on the principle the rapist knew Trish, and Paul doesn't seem to have. Indeed, apart from Beth there's nothing really to link him directly with the others. Hopefully he's part of the Latimer side of things. The particular reasons I don't want it to be him:
- He's Arthur Darvill (!) - They've done a great job of creating a pretty realistic Vicar, a flawed but decent man. It'll be disappointing if they go down the 'bad priest' route. - It'll be maddening if, after the introduction of all these new characters, it's someone who's been in it from Series 1!
