I hope it is as good as the first series ... and a lot better than the storyline of the 2nd, which I was not all that impressed with.

I didn't dislike the second series as much as some did. It was a bit unlikely, especially the ending, but I think its main problem was living up to the first series, often a problem with second series (though not with Unforgotten or Line of Duty, whose second series outdid the first IMO). I will certainly give this a go.

The acting, etc, was fab, but the storyline lacked credibility for me. Like you, I will certainly be tuning in though.

I watched the American version which was quite good. Looking forward to this last series.

I will certainly give this a go. I thought the problem with the second series was that it ran parallel to the ongoing ramifications of the first, so we never got immersed in it. Unlike the first series which was totally involving. Half the time I forgot what was going on in the second plot and the characters just seemed less affecting than the ones from the first plot.

Off to a good start, I thought. But did it seem odd to anyone else that, out of 70-80 guests at a woman's 50th birthday party, at least 50 guests were men? Seems a high percentage to me.

I think that's the point isn't it?.... Not the ordinary sort of party

Julie Hesmondhaigh was mesmerizing.
The 50 men must be significant. The husband looks very suspicious, but of course it's only episode 1....
Looking good so far.

Beautiful settings. The Dorset tourist board must be thrilled. The relationship between Alec and Ellie is what makes it, IMV. Her out and about visiting at 2 am? Hmmmm. Will we finally see them get together, given this is the last series? The twine being in a farm shop carrier bag may or may not be significant.

Yes, it sounds like some kind of sex party that has gone horribly wrong. While Julie Hesmondhalgh's performance was indeed riveting, the whole scene was very reminiscent of Alison O'Donnell's scene in the most recent series of Shetland (she was also taken to SARC), rightly praised for its depiction of the aftermath of rape and its immediate impact on the traumatised victim. Brave of 'Axehampton House' to agree to being the on-screen venue for this! Of course that happens a lot in fiction with nefarious goings-on in stately homes, but I didn't think it made it look very attractive. The house, in reality Bridehead in Dorset, has an interesting history which you can see here: historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1000712. It's privately owned, not a hotel or conference venue, which may be why it looked a bit forlorn when Hardy and Miller visited. I'm intrigued by the house Cath and Jim live in too – they must have private funds, surely (funded by sex parties?!). Something fishy going on there even if Jim turns out not to be the attacker after that rather obvious signposting of the condoms in his glove compartment. Definitely a strong first episode and I'll be back.

We've visited Little Bredy and the pleasure gardens a few times. It's lovely on Easter Sunday in the church when He is Risen, Alleluiah is formed with primroses in moss on the windowsills.
