We have several episodes recorded as the new time is usually when we're out and about. Saw the one about the writing slope with a very poignant outcome for the chap who found it tucked away in the loft. I think his story is more common than not, given the age he is; unmarried mothers were a stigma they're not today. I can't imagine what it was like finding out in that way and, sadly, he has no one to ask about his background, just a few documents and photos.
Will was truly a miracle worker, they all are.
Steve's immediate reaction to Susie finding the name under the rocking horse saddle just made me well up. Didn't speak a word, just gave her a hug. What a lovely couple they are. What must it be like having a brother so caring.
A programme that deserves to be on prime time rather than all the celebrity and "reality" drivel that the BBC are currently commissioning. THIS is real. Real emotions. Real people. Real stories. No fake histrionics.

I, too, have been recording it every day, so we are always behind. But it's a treat now, to sit down and say "Lets watch a Repair Shop".

These people are so clever with the repairing. You can see the love they put into everything they do. And the tearful gratitude from the grateful people has me in tears too. Wonderful programme

If you like the repairing aspects of the show, then you might enjoy Salvage Hunters:The Restorers on Quest Weds at 9.00pm. They typically restore 3 seperate items each week, and there are some very talented craftsmen/women.

Am coming to the conclusion that less is more ,this ends on Friday and there have been 30 in this series. The wonder for me is flagging a bit,it just seemed better in short chunks.

I'm still enjoying all of it, and still fascinated. I see they had to bring in more, new, experts to keep up with the very different kinds of items brought in.
Every item has a story, and those hoping to get their treasured objects restored seem to have an emotional reason for it. What a variety of people, too. Some are effusive in their thanks, and some reserved. All seem to go away happy.
A wonderful series.

Love it, from little things to big things and they must scour the country to find experts. I mean I imagined there were antique spinning wheel restorers but I bet they're not ten a penny. It's the little bits of information you get. Of course I must have known somewhere in my brain that there were no trees in the Shetlands to build spinning wheels from and that all the wood was what drifted onto the shore which was why they are all made from different bits, I must have known, but if I didn't I do now!! And to think that someone sat down all those years ago and made one for their wife or mother, that actually worked!! I am lucky if I get a cup of tea from my lot and they still stand and watch me do things like wallpapering and grouting!

I have them recorded and watch an episode from time to time. Saw this odd little table, you had to push it and up it came with glasses ready to be used. It was made by a family member, beautiful thing.
And now this chap, had Guillain-Barre, and then his wife suddenly died, how sad. He has a machine, you put a coin into it and you can see pictures. Wonder how that will turn out.

The teddy bear ladies (based near us) were on our local radio a couple of weeks ago saying they'd filmed the Christmas series a while ago complete with fake snow.

Great news, but I will have to watch it on iplayer as before because it is on at such an early time.
Fab series! I hope to goodness they haven't changed the calm, relaxed atmosphere.
