Just watching this and I didn't know Steve had been a fireman. Such a handy bloke.

Did anybody else catch Channel 4's pilot attempt to rip this off (Mend it for Money - Easter Monday 8.00pm)? It didn't work.
Whereas I agree TRS is now prioritising too much emotion over actual time shown doing interesting repairs, this one was mainly focused on 2 repairers each making a Dragons Den-style pitch as to how much % they wanted when the item was sold. And the items were boring.

I wondered about it when I saw it on the listing, beatxt. Thought it might be a poor copy, but I've not seen it yet. Perhaps they thought that if they included a bit about the value of the item, it could be as popular as Antiques Roadshow.
Whereas the charm of the Repair Shop is that people are not at all interested in value, its just valuable to them personally as a memory of happier times, usually.

Join the club, sleepyp. All of the episodes are very uplifting. We began watching when it was a very quiet little programme, tucked away on BBC2, and eventually it must have got such a following that they took notice and moved it to BBC1, primetime.
Enjoy!

The producers have lost it.
Now we have snippets of each repair at the start - to tempt us, obviously. But, they're actually spoilers. It was perfect the way it was.
This ruins the discoveries during the episode.

The Repair Shop will return to our screens featuring two special themed episodes, the BBC has confirmed.
The popular show will see host Jay Blades along with a team of expert crafters return to rescue and restore the public's beloved items when the show returns to BBC One on 7 June.
The BAFTA-winning programme will return with four new episodes, including two themed specials marking the 75th anniversary of both the Empire Windrush's arrival to the UK and the birth of the NHS.
Presenter Jay has expressed his excitement that the show will return and teased the celebrity guests people can expect through the series.

Seek out Salvage Hunters: The Restorers on Quest and other places if you want a show that's more artisan-focussed. You get 3 items in each 45min-ish episode (minus ads) and while they don't reveal the cost of each restoration they do say what was paid for the item and how much they think they can sell it on for.
It's currently in mid-Season 6 and they've had some really unusual items on this one. The Radio Times website is good for finding repeat/rerun times for shows on Quest - or any channel for that matter.
