The third season Fargo will receive its UK premiere on Channel 4 on Wednesday May 31st at 10pm.
The third season is set in 2010 and follows Emmit and his slightly younger brother Ray Stussy. Emmit, the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, sees himself as an American success story, whereas Ray is more of a cautionary tale.
Forever living in his more successful brother’s shadow, Ray is a balding and pot-bellied parole officer with a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt – and he blames his brother. Their sibling rivalry follows a twisted path that begins with petty theft but soon leads to murder, mobsters and cut-throat competitive bridge.
Stars:
Ewan McGregor (in dual roles) Carrie Coon Mary Elizabeth Winstead David Thewlis

Oh fantastic! I love Fargo! I've still got my recording of the second one.

Well that was very... Fargo!
I do have a problem with it being Ewan McGregor. I can get past it being him as the parole officer but as the rich brother .... not so much. And I'm not sure why. I've never rated him that highly as an actor so maybe that's it.
But yeah, everything else was up to standard.

I thought it was very slow at first, even by Fargo's meandering standards! I was more into it by the end though. I wasn't that impressed by Ewan McGregor either, in fact I didn't think he brought anything particular to the roles. Early days though I guess.

It is weird, isn't it? Both of them just look like Ewan McGregor. I believed in Martin Freeman's character a lot quicker. I like the police character though.

Ewen McGregor works well enough for me, but the real standout so far is David Thewlis.

The representative of the 'loan company'.
I watched both episodes again last night and it made a lot more sense the second time.

Sorry, I posted in a hurry last night and didn't elaborate. Yes, he is VM Varga - who is this year's eccentric evil character. On the good side, I like the woman cop.
I read that the connection is going to be to season 1 and revealed around the middle. I just hope they don't go back to the UFO story, which was just randomly weird in S2.

I did wonder if it was connected to the film cos of the stamp. S1 was Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman, wasn't it?

Yes, they were in S1. You have a better memory than I do – I'd completely forgotten the significance of the stamp and still can't remember it. Never mind, all will be revealed. in due course.

It's a tiny little thing in the film. The cop is married to a guy who doesn't seem to work. He paints animals and looks after his wife who is the Cheif of Police in Brainerd. He enters his paintings into a local competition and comes third and wins a 3 cent stamp.

Ah, right. So we think the stamp is the same stamp that has turned out to be valuable? But then again, nothing is what it seems in Fargo. I don't think we ever found out what happened to the buried money in the film, did we? Or perhaps we did – it's too long between series!

Yes we did. Remember the guy who owned a chain of stores and was married to the woman who hated him that had revenge sex with Martin Freeman? He was able to start his business cos found the money in the Spring thaw. He stopped his car right where the money was cos his pregnant wife wanted to throw up.
