I really enjoyed this, and as Miranda says, the scenery was gorgeous

Yes it was, the article got that wrong, and it also refers to "stones" tied to his ankles rather than a curling stone. That final scene of the submerged body revealed to us viewers that the heart was his, but the police don't yet know where it's from.

I'm guessing that as the heart was dead 10 days before, the old fella in the loch is someone who is a bit of a recluse as no-one has reported him missing. Or he's from well outside the area and there's no national alert for him.

Good point - I was expecting the police to get a missing person report at any time, but it didn't happen.
We didn't see much of Simone Lahbib (Mhari) yet, did we. She's billed right up there with Alastair MacKenzie in the opening credits so presumably her character is significant. I gather she lives with just her son Dessie, the lad who was being teased at the beginning of the classroom scene and sat next to Evie.

I thought it got off to quite a good start but hope we don't have loads of blue twine to follow up like Broadchurch!

I thought it was a pretty good start too. Dubbing it MacBroadchurch, as some did, is a bit unfair (although we saw some blue twine!) - there was no serial killer in Broadchurch and experts weren't parachuted in to solve cases, though I suppose the small community aspect is similar. Also there's nothing particularly odd yet apart from the killer's actions - though Kieran's comatose brother suddenly opening his eyes was a bit supernatural. As is often the case with an opening episode, I was struggling to take in who all the characters are. I found this which is quite helpful: metro.co.uk/2017/06/11/what-is-new-itv-crime-drama-the-loch-about-and-when-is-it-on-6695841/Thanks for the link geometryman. I caught up with the first episode last night and enjoyed it but, with so many new characters to get used to, found it difficult to keep track of exactly who was who. That article has made it much clearer. Looking forward to the rest of the series....not only for the story (which I think will contain many twists and surprises) but for the stunning scenery too.

The car chase was very well done, proper scary. I do want to give Evie a good shake, silly girl.

Feel so sorry for the lad on the drip with his mother doing that to put him back to sleep. They said he had an aneurysm - can anyone tell me anymore about that? A brain one like I had? I can't work out what happened from what they said.

They haven't said much more about him, TBH.

Who was that chasing them - was it the person who has Jonjo tied up in that trailer? If so whoever it is, presuming they have Jonjo's phone, would know from the text message that Evie was going to meet him, and where & when - or maybe sent the message themself as a lure.
More blue twine in evidence this week! - used for a couple of new purposes.

I also want to thump Evie for being so stupid and searching the docs house. JohnJo's death and the way his body was found in front of the press make you think the police are so stupid.
