And it explains why the Dr had all those female wigs.

I know! It took him long enough.
Poor Dessie. Bullies do not know what they do.
Petrie... hmmm... he can't have put the hammer and the knife in the attic when he was supposedly going to the bathroom cos that hammer was too big to fit into the pocket of a tracksuit.

And it explains why the Dr had all those female wigs. It does. A simple explanation really.

I'd guessed that about the wigs when I first saw them. I find it very odd that the Dr was having s*x with young Beth when I thought he was very, very prim and disliked anything to do with naughty s*x, so much so he sacked that piano teacher for the "pornographic" music. So soon after his wife died too. Very odd. Lots of very silly stuff too really, thinking that Dessie is responsible for killing all of the victims when it seems very obviously he wasn't. Also how was Dessie allowed to carry that massive big gun on a school trip? Why wasn't that stopped? Why did he shoot Kieron? I just find a lot of it a bit daft, but I'm enjoying watching it and look forward to finding out what happens at the end.

So did I - though no-one will believe us now! His wife had recently died, & though I don't think we were previously told what from, the wigs were a clue.
I thought it was because the piano teacher was gay, and the religious doctor is homophobic - the music content was just an excuse to get rid of him.
He had a crush on Kieran but Kieran rejected him. So presumably, if Dessie couldn't have him, nobody else was going to...
The episode moved along pretty fast. We have some sort of explanation re the Grellishes, with the two pregnancies, one of which is real - but it's a bit bizarre. Kieran has noticed his brother's dirty feet, so has the penny dropped yet about his "coma"? Looking forward to the finale, which needs to have a lot more explanations yet.

A geography field trip to a hydro-electric dam with teenagers wandering around inside the dam, including the control room....and not an electricity company employee in sight - really? I also noticed a continuity error during that piece: the kids at the dam were in bright sunshine and blue skies with a completely dry road whilst the scene inside the approaching police car showed falling rain, a leaden sky and a very wet road. I know weather in the mountains can be very changeable but not to the extent of such a big difference I wouldn't think.
This isn't living up to its early promise for me; it has begun to seem somewhat contrived (the two pregnancies for instance) and "busy" with too many story strands. I also am disapointed in Siobhan Finneran's portrayal of the senior police officer. She is a terrific actress, one of my favourites, but she seems so stilted and constrained in this part. One of her great strengths as an actress is the natural way she can deliver her lines (think of Happy Valley) but in this she always seems to be aware that she is acting.
I am as intrigued as the next person to see how The Loch ends but, all in all, I haven't enjoyed it as much as I expected to.

I agree there's too much going on and I'm still having trouble remembering who is who. I hope it doesn't end up being Petrie who is the killer, as he's being so clearly signposted as A Bad Man, but who else could it be, as presumably Dr Marr is now off the hook? As Petrie was at the dam when the boys were shot it could have been him, and he could also have hidden the weapon in the attic when he was having a bathroom break (though agree it was a bit big to have hidden about him!).
The double pregnancy plot strand was just silly. Could Bethan really be hidden away in her own home for months on end? They're attempting the plot structure of everyone having something to hide and lots of cans of worms being opened in an otherwise unconnected investigation, but where The Killing series 1 managed that masterfully, this is really straining to make sense.
On another note, I'm with those who think the actress playing Evie is pregnant. She's being filmed from behind, upper half only, etc quite a lot and her clothes suggest she might be too.

Ah, you think it's the actress that is pregnant? That makes more sense than it being the character.

With Evie, I have just assumed she is wearing the style of clothes she is because it is what's fashionable. I haven't noticed her camera angles so will try to remember to look next week.

I have found this very patchy too. I think it is trying to be things to all men, with endless secrets etc. Sometimes the execution leaves a bit to be desired and then another bit is quite good. It is just weirdly uneven IMHO.
His wife had an awful lot of wigs then, didn't she? I mean I have gone through chemo and used a cold cap so didnt in fact lose all my hair, but I did get one wig (a dreadful choice though!) from the NHS and may well have searched for another in a private shop if I needed one which actually suited me, and perhaps bought two. But didn't she have about six? I doubt many women buy that many.

I hope all is well with you now, Marion.
My auntie, who is virtually the same age as my sister, had 2 wigs that she bought while she was going through treatment for breast cancer. Nice wigs, they looked good. My even younger auntie, same age as my sister, is facing a double mastectomy now and I expect she'll be wanting one or 2 wigs. My aunties all have fabulous hair. Big family if that sounds odd, the ages, Mum is the second oldest in a family of 14.

Its a long old slog when you have the surgery and the chemo etc and a reconstruction if you go for that. I hope she gets through it all OK. I strongly recommend the cold cap to save your hair, but then I couldn't bear the thought of losing mine on top of everything else. Not that I have particularly good hair, mind.

Yes , all the best to your aunt Loopy Lobes. I too have been through the chemo, radio, surgery and reconstruction. Only ever had the one wig though, I was fortunate and got one that was pretty much the same colour and style as my natural hair.
Back to The Loch though, am looking forward to seeing the final episode!

I checked the scene where Evie was snooping round the doctor's house, and there were only 2 wigs - but positioned near the dressing table mirrors, so the reflections gave the impression of more.
I'm in agreement that they've made this unnecessarily complicated by trying to pack too many sub-issues and secrets into it - it seems almost every character has something to hide. Still looking forward to the finale though.

I thnk it would have been a lot better without all the sub-plots. There didn't seem to be much point to most of them. Creepy doctor would still be creepy without the pregnancy story and Ex-Crim would still be suspicious without the Pyscho Mate story.
